I have had my K1 for a month now, your initial review swung this purchase in favour of the P1P. Must say this is the best 3d print experience i have had for the last 4 years, litteraly press print and go. Have currently had no failures and the quality is far beyond what i have achieved previously, plus the speed is phenomenal. I can now print 3 or four large prints in a day rather than over 3 days. Kudos to Creality on the upgrade program for K1 buyers a great way for them to say thankyou and garner even more loyalty from their users. Also a great video on how to upgrade the printer. keep up the great work😃

Thanks for the great engineering analysis from the consumer's perspective. That was the K1 first layer I've been waiting to see! I'm feeling a lot better about the K1's early teething issues, particularly with the new extruder. I love that Creality is using a four wire interface to the extruder board with power and serial data (CAN bus?) but I wish they'd put an optical filament run out sensor on the extruder to make it easier to print TPU directly into the extruder without the reverse Bowden tube. Speaking of TPU, I print a lot in TPU and I'd love to see some K1 or K1 Max TPU tests - print quality, bridging and overhangs, and print speed. I haven't even seen a glue stick in a couple of years so I was very sorry to see Bambu Lab and Creality dragging us back to that mess. I expect aftermarket print surfaces to fix that nonsense very soon.

I can print fine without glue on the default bed. The only trouble is really getting the filament inside the extruder's gears, which is easily fixed by cutting filament at an angle. One point though, even though the extruder is the new one, it still becames just a tad bit loose during a print, was enough to immediatly get under extrusion

FYI, the Bowden length, after I contacted Creality, is 22.3mm. I asked for 2, assuming I might stuff something up. The support agent was quizzical but sent me 2 x 1 metre lengths of Capricorn 😅 Having a close look at the bed on the K1, there is no evidence of a load cell on each bed mount. Good to see that Bambu competition is really pushing Creality to up their game, my K1 Max delivered last week seems to have these updates already installed, is giving great quality prints using Prusa slicer with community generated profiles and I would suggest anyone with K1 printers use a better slicer as the Creality effort seems to have some odd problems causing quality problems on some prints as well as being awkward to use and slow, I also have the hack to run full Klipper with fluidd interface giving access to all tuning parameters. Really the only thing Bambu is better for now is multi filament printing which is very well done on their printers plus they also have the best out of the box experience for beginners by far. I'm personally looking forward to Creality releasing the source code in September to see where the community can take this printer.

I was wondering about the short piece of Bowden tube. I have a new K1 Max and for two weeks so far can't print anything. (It is fun to watch the video of it not printing! HA! HA1) Originally, it was banging itself to death with belt sprocket teeth jumping out like crazy and banging on the side over and over. Creality sent a new PCB to install, works like is should, but now the extruder will not feed any filament. Wires are all twisted and one (Red) was broken completely. Fixed one (red) wire, and still doesn't run, now I will see if the other wires which look damaged are broken the Blue has a deep dent in it, so I suspect that is broken. I have 11 other Creality printers and no manufacturing problems with any of them, except the normal loose screws and the pom wheels all out of adjustment when they arrive. Waiting for a replacement extruder from Creality now.

A C-shaped piece inside the extruder holds the second gear. There are 3 holes in this part, one for fixing and two for movement limitation. Slightly carving the slots that limit the movement brings the gears closer together. The compression problem is solved by adding a spring from the outside or a mechanism that pulls the lock latch to the left.

LiDAR alone is worth it, along with input shaping. Speaks a volume on quality, precision of prints. Piezo/load cell leveling, is more of a convenience. Creality is catching up, it is just a matter of time. AMS is way overpriced compared to the actual printer itself, esp. with restrictions on usable materials and excessive wear even on moderate use. Also a good IDEX, with some clever muxing should do better than an AMS, that is wasteful. Another thing I don't understand is, why a Bambulab X1C wastes so much filament, before start of every print job(even without AMS), if they can use the camera input(on X1C) already, with enough nueral processing cores in the system.Just some💭♥️👍

When they removed holes from the old extruder does that mean that the new extruder is lighter?😅

It's roughly 21g vs 17g for the new extruder arm design. I'm not sure why it isn't considerably heavier since Steel is 3x heavier than aluminum.

also, the K1 max under extrusion seems to be because the k1 max has a lower power hotend than the new ones on the k1

Did you not use the screws to fasten the hot end to the heat block?

I cannot say what the old extruder is made of, but there are some stainless steels that are non magnetic. I know, it is weird AF but it is true.

It's possible the old extruder is a non-magnetic stainless steel. I need some better lab equipment to figure this stuff out!

@NathanBuildsRobots yeah I'm a CNC programmer/machinist. I wanted to make some stainless steel gauge blocks ground to .1000" imagine my surprise when I learned I could not hold them on the magnetic table. (No metal was yeeted, just disappointment)

So would the Sprite Extruders issue with first layers, possibly also be an extruder issue? Cuz that is for sure, a night and day difference. I do know sometimes, if my top layer speed is 50 or above, you'll see the beginning and end of the extrusions will be solid. Yet somewhere in the middle, not centered, just a random circle area, the lines will get thin and you can see the layers underneath. So it makes me wonder. Cuz that's exactly what I see on the first layers. Just without seeing the layers underneath. lol I do have a .4mm CHT nozzle BTW. But I see it with or without the CHT.

Note: MicroCenter has the K1 on sale for $379 until Oct. 31. HOWEVER the one I got on the first day of the sale (Sept. 23) is the first (flawed) generation, and the upgrade kit offer expired Sept. 21. Really, MC?

Thanks for your video. You said the k1 is good for high temp filament but it s announced for 100 degrés max for the bed. It s too low for my cpe and even for some nylons. Is 100 degrés really the max?

i just bought K1 MAX. still waiting. looks like creality closed the campaing page for that 3 dollar for extruder and hotend stuff. if i get that old stuff from my K1 MAX package; i hope they just send it when i mail them.. whole 3d printer wars became too political.. i just can't know whats the truth and who is lying who is just etc.. too complicated :D
