I've been crocheting for over 30 years, and I am STILL learning something new! I've done granny squares, and I've done a few mosaic granny squares. I stopped to take a look, because I've never actually crocheted a granny rectangle before. I've been thinking about making a mosaic granny rectangle blanket, but I wasn't sure how to get the rectangle started. The idea of chaining 5 in the corner, then the shell, instead of 3 then 2 dc's to make the shell is genius! I would never have thought of that! So, one good crochet hack deservers another! I think this will work fantastically in congruence with yours. When I'm slip stitching into a corner, once I get there, I sl st one extra time. I find it centers my corner shells better, and just looks a little neater. Add the extra sl st before starting your ch 5, and when you get back to finish the cluster, you may have a bit more room in the corner to do so. Hope this helps!

Hi Toma! If you are looking to create a square, just begin with the traditional granny square shape and then follow the same principles of front post stitches you find here. There will be a mosaic square tutorial coming in the next little while, so you can always check that out too when it's live. I will be sure to keep you posted:)
