Hi, after seven years this video is still inspiring people!--Me I'm knitting my first-ever cardigan using this tutorial and just put the sleeves on hold. I watched four times before working the row to separate the sleeves! Thank you so much for moving me forward in my knitting journey! I learned to knit to make cardigans, and it feels great to finally be knitting one. I'll be looking for another tutorial for my next cardi. I appreciate your well-thought-out instruction videos and have viewed many of your others to learn techniques. I think you are the best!

@@Felicity2121 I have been knitting for many years and have never tried to make a cardigan. The reason I learned to knit is to make cardigans. Finally, I found the pattern and then this video, and I felt confident to move forward to begin the project. I'm proud to say I'm at the point (22 min) of separating the sleeves and work the body. This is a perfect first cardigan project. If you are a basic knitter this video will walk you through every step. The feeling of making it this far is an awesome sense of accomplishment. Don't wait years to try it...go for it now!

Your tiny sweater could probably fit a small dog. I started mine and had bad luck because my dog grabbed my sweater out of the bag one day and chewed the needle and broke the plastic, I had to go and buy a new set of circular needles and luckily all I had to do was put the sweater stitches back onto the new circular needles. After having done about 2 inches more I noticed one of the holes on my raglan did not match up in a nice neat row like the other 3, had to rip out 2 inches and match up again. I'm happy to say that I can now carry on again. Can't wait to see the finished sweater because so far I've had some bad luck with it. I'm a bit nervous about trying it on after the 24 rounds are done and putting all the stitches onto a piece of wool. You make it look so easy, can't wait to see the end results. I just may make my dog one since she liked it so much only will put buttons to hold it together under her belly. Thanks again for the tips. Love this video.

I got so frustrated with this pattern when it came to the yarn over increases. I started over twice, about ready to give up when I realized that I am supposed to do the increases 28 times (I’m making a large) not 28 rows. I counted the holes, and I have 11 more to do. So, if anyone has the same problem, count the holes, not the rows.
@verypinkknits

This is wonderful! I've knitted two of these top-down cardigans for my grandchildren but the pattern I used was written so that the front 'button' bands are included in the main knitting (ie you don't have to go back separately and pick up the stitches from the fronts). I could modify your pattern so that the front bands are knitted in from the start, couldn't't I? xx
@verypinkknits
9 жыл бұрын
+Louizalass - you could, yes - but the button band knit in a different direction is kind of important to the structure. Picking up the stitches and creating that "seam" gives structure to the front of the sweater.

Hi, when increasing the last wrong side row in the ribbing, the pattern says inc 2 (4,2,4,6) - sts evenly spaced - 88 (94, 100, 106, 112). Cause I am making a large, does this mean I increase 4 stitches but where exactly do I make the increases? Little confusing. thanks.
@verypinkknits
9 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Sanchez-Ellis - "Large" is the third set of instructions, so the increase number is 2. Just place the increases evenly, anywhere. Really, any time a pattern tells you this you can place them anywhere - if it was important, the pattern would be more specific about where to place them.
