thank you for sharing! I have been working on getting my first muscle up for quite a while now. I filmed it the other day and had a coach watch and was told I was doing the same thing as the young lady in your video. I'm bringing my toes too far forward. Seeing you do it helps me to understand how NOT to bring the toes forward so much. I'm going to try it this coming week thank you so much again!

Went from zero BMUs on Friday to getting a score of 81 (15 muscle ups) in the Open today. You, my friend, are a fantastic coach and I'm sure a very, very good man. Thank you!

This was amazing! I did my first muscle up after watching your video and two days later I was able to do 5 in a row. A few of them slammed my chest into the bar though. Not sure if my kick timing is off, if I'm not kicking hard enough, or if I'm not popping my hips hard enough.

Transfer of kinetic energy technic seems to be the key of the muscle up... but till you don't understand how to do it, it seems very hard to a muscle up...

It's useless to train a skill that way. You always should train with proper form. Don't do a muscle up with much momentum. You won't get strong if you train this way. Start with a progression you can handle guys. Get a super strong pull with high pull ups or do negatives. After that u can start the muscle up with only a bit of kipping and progress to perfect form

You're not even under the bar before you do your second hollow and kip up. Maybe that's the trick to getting my hips to the bar. I just can't get them there even though I know I'm capable of doing it.

There are no muscle ups achieved here. This is a kipping and momentum swing. Why does CrossFit try to call these muscle ups? Gymnastics has a very similar move using momentum and kipping - they don’t call it a MU - they call it a glide kip. Gymnasts don’t say they are doing a MU when they do a glide kip - it’s a glide kip. There is nothing wrong with this kipping move except it’s name. It needs much less strength to achieve than a muscle up. A MU is a powerful strength move - not a kip. The move shown here is a bar hip swing/ bar kip swing. It’s a decent move and a progression towards a MU - but is not a MU. In a MU the kipping and swing are removed / body stays vertical feet below knees, knees below hips, hips below shoulders. It uses an explosive pull up to generate momentum. If you use lots of swinging and kipping you will not be able to train the strength necessary for a MU.

People, this one goes on the pile of the worst muscle up tutorials on KZitem. Zero reps achieved here. This is all using momentum, not much muscle strength demonsteared. Well, again this is crossfit..form goes out the window.......I actually did crossfit for a year while also training in calisthenics and got tired of how they kept promoting bad form as good. Go follow calisthenicsmovement and fitnessfaqs of many other good ones if you want to go a real muscle up. Follow the progressions and you shall do it in a clean form. It takes time, but it is very rewarding when you do your first proper muscle up.
