I think Andrew makes a good point in this video when he asks if MCU will cover this incident. Isn't MCU a news organization? This would seem like news that is worthy of being covered. Doesn't mean they have to take a position on what should be done, but it could be covered as a news story plain and simple. After all, news organizations shouldn't display bias but should bring newsworthy items to the public. It seems like they do more puff pieces than actually do news investigations. There is a time and place for both types of content, but seems like a real issue in the space at this time. If someone like MCU did more investigatory work that complimented their puff pieces and regular storytelling, I think it would benefit the sport.

What the Buttery Bros do is to put fun in the sport and showing that you can do similar things from the pros and maintain good spirits and good health. Although not everyone is like that, they are helping to make the sport of crossfit more popular among the general population and they should be commanded for that. Now, in regards to the lack of clarity in terms of judging by CrossFit, it is certainly frustrating how unconsistent and error prone they are. This is indeed a barrier that may prevent the sport to grow, and it can be very demotivating for athletes who are aspiring to qualify for semi-finals to keep signing up for those competitions. A simple procedure of Quality Control and Error Check (which is essential to any analytical job) after they review a video should be enough to eliminate some of the penalties they are giving to some athletes. It looks like some of the judges are just not looking to their own rulebooks, dishing penalties as they see fit, and, unfortunately being okay with that.

I like to look at things from a business perspective. Crossfit Inc. appears to be run by clowns. How many public screwups before they tighten things up and at least try to give the appearance of a well-managed business? No evidence of it so far. Clear and unambiguous standards that can be easily and objectively judged? Not learning that lesson. Consistent and unbiased judging? Not learning that lesson. At one time Crossfit seemed to be growing leaps and bounds. That no longer seems to be the case, but I don't claim to have access to relevant data. That's simply my impression.

I don't understand how athletes--especially elite athletes--are still wearing grips on deadlifts when no grips on DLs has been the standard since ca. 2021. Shouldn't you know better by now? (or just don't care). At the affiliate I train at, we've made people stop and restart or redo their open workouts for wearing grips and these are people in the lower echelons of the rankings. Plus, I know of elite athletes like Annie who re-did their quarter final workout this year because of the grips. so some people play by the rules and its unfair that those that don't aren't having their scores invalidated.
@mikeg5372

This 15% penalty is pure BS. Crossfit must be the only sport where you get credit because you tried. Imagine this, 4th and goal for the Super Bowl. Your running back makes a great effort breaks a couple of tackles but still gets tackled before crossing the line. No problem, your team is still awarded 4 points for that amazing effort. They should remove these gray areas. Either you did the reps or you didn't. Who was it at last year's games? Luka Dukic? He gets credit for having done 5 rounds on the bike while having done only 4 and gets time added on, based on what CF thinks he would've done if he hadn't F-upped? Really?

Most of the space is so blindfolded by her. My wife and I did a local comp with her and she really didn’t represent the sport or ideology of CrossFit. Even at the games you could see her true colors poke out in quick shots of her. Daniel Speegle seemed to be a great competitor. I respected her and her work ethic but lost it after the stuff she said and perceived wokeness she is spewing. Both are tremendous athletes that I could never take or crap on but they just don’t represent the sport on and off camera. CrossFit on its own is moving away from it as well… which blows my mind.

There are definitely some standards that need to put in place and I think Bozman needs to go, seems like he’s just pulling shit out of no where and trying to re-invent the wheel with all these odd rep schemes and movements that aren’t fun to watch. If CrossFit wants to be mainstream (which I’m assuming they do) and if they want more people to participate in the open it should be progressive like in the past. The open movements are fairly entry level ie. prob no ring MU in the open and not going from 5 wall walks to 20 SHSPU with nothing in between !!?? Seems like he has this mad scientist mentality and maybe the power of being the new director of the games has gone to his head. He seems to be focusing on making new movements (crossovers which are lame AF to watch and wall facing HSPU, and v-ups which are ab accessory movement WTF! In a quarter final workout !?). Idk they’re kind of going in the wrong direction imo, the open should be a set of standardized movements that most affiliate members can do because it will entice the most amount of people to sign up obviously, then the second and third round of competition can get harder and heavier. Seems obvious to me but I wouldn’t be surprised if less people sign for the open next year just based on the difficulty of the this years movements. Last time I checked Fran is still a hard workout no matter if your joe shmoe or rich froning it all depends how hard you go and what your fitness level is at. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and right now CrossFit is breaking themselves.

I'm sorry Andrew but to say that Danielle was treated like a "pariah" because of them adhering to the Covid protocol is highly unfair. They made it possible for her to compete where at that time in most parts of society and sports she would have been excluded. What is more is that they as a company were liable if by any chance Danielle had infected someone and that person ended up in hospital. I know highly unlikely but given the environment and circumstances at the time absolutely understandable. Rest of your points are well presented.
