We're really enjoying it! Yes we've learned how to navigate the peso game now. Haha! The police presence is weird at first, but so far we've had several interactions with the police and all were positive. The majority by far are just doing their jobs and trying to make it a safer place.

I so envy you! I venture into Mexico for day trips every couple months to explore. I live in San Antonio and cross over at Eagle Pass, TX to a small Mexican town of Piedras Negras (that means Black Rocks in English). The town holds a lot of its original buildings, even some abandoned ones that're almost as old as Texas itself! Many may already know that various American countries but a few small railroads in some places in Mexico but the rail systems the Mexicans made are of high quality but, they use some of our older components when they became outdated on our systems. I found one rail yard that still has a functioning turntable and roundhouse! A lot of the rail cars you see on American railroads is actually made in Mexico! Mexico uses similar modern locomotives as we have so things are like how things were in the 80's here. I say the 80's because you don't have to deal with power crazy people. As long as you're polite and show some respect, they'll let you take all the pictures you want and, they took me to show off some amazing structures that're well maintained. It does help to speak some English and if you can, ask their permission to speak English which makes them less upset that you came to their country and demand they speak your language. I used this same form of respect whenever I traveled in Europe since my German isn't that wonderful but I know when I'm about to get my ass kicked! Lol. I enjoy talking with anyone who gives me time to speak with them, the wages they make is insanely low. But what they don't have is the amount of living expenses as we do. A decent house is a few thousand US dollars, water service, sewage, electricity and trash are also minuscule. Food down there is almost the same prices as ours but folks down there still cook fresh meals so the items they prefer are very affordable. It's refreshing to see all the power and phone lines jammed into poles going down the Main Street as we used to have before they went underground. Just be careful about using too much toilet paper or butt wipes, their sewer system can't handle all that right now. I've never had a problem with security or even felt uncomfortable walking around. I keep an eye on things to make sure something isn't brewing up to get me but haven't been close to that. And not every Mexican wants to come to the US, they enjoy their own cities and culture. But be aware of the unwritten class system in Mexico, there are three classes that I know of. One is the European Spanish looking Mexican who you see on Spanish television then there's the mixed kind which is half Mexican native and European Spanish lineage then there's the native Mexican Indians. And tribal indifferences do exist in some areas. And you'll see all kinds of armed troops patrolling the streets in trucks. I took some time to talk with the Mexican Army Soldiers one time and they're good people and they volunteer to serve in their military just like we do.

@@EatSeeRV Suit yourself: Windscreen Payment Tags for Mexican Toll Roads You can pay toll booth charges in cash, or you can purchase a Payment Tag for your vehicle’s windscreen. Credit and debit cards are no longer accepted at toll booths in Mexico. There are two tags you can get: Tag IAVE, which is administered by the agency that runs the toll roads and the Tag TeleVia which is sold at Walmart stores across Mexico. You can either top-up your tag account at local participating stores, or register online to link your credit card and personal details to your tag. Visit the websites above for details.
