Loved the arrangement of this composition with its harp, drum beats and piano, Tony Hatch was truly a wonderful composer.

That all too familiar feature of TV shows of yesteryear - when the theme tune is ten times better than the show itself.

I loved this series! The info boxes are informative! That theme was one of the most iconic of the 60s and 70s - AND those end credits!

Always reminds me of my dear departed granny. This was her second favourite TV show, Corrie being first...I still remember her being inconsolable when Roger Tonge passed on.

Agree the titles are legendary. Two different directions in analogue days. How good is that?

Episodes from November 1970-February 1971 were done in Black & White due to the colour strike and many from the November 1969-1976 period that don't exist in colour which were originally taped/recorded in colour only exist on B&W/Colour film tele recordings/NTSC colour video done for overseas sales these latter versions are likely to have the ITC logo replacing the ATV logo from the original UK versions

In reply to Donado Xie's comment, some ITV regions, including ATV, switched to colour television in 1969, but not until late in the year.

Good things come to those who wait... NTSC colo(u)r was as much of a bodge as the British 405-line system, half the versions of MS Windows, most of the Western states of the USA, Belgium... Any colour system that needs a 'Tint' control to adjust hue was obviously not ready for general use. PAL was the best analogue colour TV system devised and it wasn't ready until the late 60s.
