The oil pressure switch goes onto a factory stand off. Look at an early 289.

Find the highest heater hose fitting/clamp loosen when filling with coolant to burp out the air. I used a manaul adjustable rear proportional brake valve. Follow the instructions with it. I adjusted it so the front lock up and not the rear with a PANIC STOP.

Oh dear God, that spout of oil was right in your shot, as you got to the drivers side front. Love to hear, whether the stumble and rich codes issue, got better with intake/ mass air pipe work? Can't wait to see it move, under it's own power!! Keep at it....

The issues did seem to go away after building out the intake. I've always heard Ford MAFs were sensitive to intake tube length and I think this shows it's true

@@hotrodray6802 I’ve been keeping an eye on intake air temps with my OBD2 Bluetooth gauges and they’ve been staying below 150 degree. Eventually I’d like to build a box around the air filter to seal off engine bay air, I think that might improve things

Very interesting video on this swap, I have a 67 mustang that I’m doing an old school swap 6cyl to a 302 V8. If I felt more confident on the electrical aspects I would give it a try. Best of luck to you I believe you’re going to get it.

Thank you sir. Not gonna lie, the wiring harness modifications had me nervous so it was a huge relief when it fired up. Good luck on your swap 👍

We have 67 6 cal as well and watching this to determine if we want to do this. Like you the wiring is the only part that concerns me right now. Cheering you both on right now

🔔😎 Nice set up. Thats not a cold air intake.... Thats a sucking 200* air off the radiator intake. That often drives the computer nuts. I will bet that YOU can build a box that sucks outside ambient air. 👍👍👍😎 **** You sprayed carb cleaner over your painted fender 😱😱 Oil leak = Anytime you leave something undone (😳 never stop until you get to a stopping place), stick a piece of green painter's tape as a warning so you wont forget. From an old aircraft mechanic. 👍😎

Thanks! The painters tape is great idea, I am the type that gets so zoned in to get something done that I lose concept of time. If interrupted you think it’s easy to remember but my Labrador retriever brain struggles to just pick up later at same spot.

Can you tell more about the wiring of the motor
@noboltsleftbehind
5 ай бұрын
Sure, what I did was take the engine harness and the interior harness that connects to it on the other side of the firewall from the '96 Explorer along with the PCM. I stripped off the tape and loom and using a PCM pinout list, un-pinned any wire out of the PCM connector not required to run the engine and not needed for my swap. Things like EVAP, ABS, etc. I spliced together the engine and interior harnesses to create one big harness with engine connectors and a handful loose wires. I connected the loose wires to the Mustang's existing harness, things like ignition voltage, oil pressure gauge, fuel pump, stuff like that.

I'm trying to do the same exhaust project. Going over the rear axial is the tricky part. How did that come out? Please let me know I hope you have video of this.
@noboltsleftbehind

Yes I do, I finish off the exhaust two episodes from this one (the first start episode). It was my first time doing an over the axle and it was actually easier than I had expected. I think I used a U-shaped piece and a 45 degree bend piece.

What power are you hoping to get from this build?
@noboltsleftbehind
6 ай бұрын
For this phase of the build my goal is to really just to get it up and running in more or less stock form, but I'm gonna assume somewhere maybe just shy of 300hp. Once it's running, driving, and all of the bugs are worked out though we'll make some power.

@@noboltsleftbehind Explorers are 200 as delivered. These Explorer engines usually make about 225 on the engine Dyno. They are different than a Fox Mustang and down about 30 HP. Explorer computers hate engine modifications. You'll probably have to be lucky to find someone who can redo the Explorer ECM... which you need for your transmission.... See, it becomes a snowball. $$$
