you won't have ti do that with the mariner 4. think you'll be ok with just a stock mount.

A 85 pound thrust electric will buckle the boat so what will this do? In the living room, it seems ok.

I'm doing the motor mount mod on my Excursion 4 as well. I'm using the 1/2" conduit but I will be securing the forward end where it passes through the oarlocks. For right now, I won't be raising the motor mount height until I see how well the engine sits. Oh yeah, the outboard is an old Neptune 500 rated at a whopping 1.7hp.

The motor does ride higher now but it still wants to tilt back. Big improvement but thinking of running the original tubes through the mount points then add on the conduit.

Hi I followed what you did but I put my boat in the sea and at the shore the wave went under the boat and the boat flexed and broke the top of the mount because it is plastic so I am in the process of building a frame similar to the original mount with steel piping

Nice set up man. Did drilling new holes and moving the motor higher on the mount work out? Looking to do the same with a suzuki 2.5

Does it help to extend the bracket like in the video even if the engine has too much thrust?

Good video, but are you sure it was 1/2 inch you used, as the stock one is 3/4 . Quiet a difference in size ! 😃

Quick question. Do you have to register for your inflatable boat with motor?

Not in Mexico, if your boat is less than five meters long, and engine below 10HP

Why no video showing the 2.5HP running in the water with the modded mount? How did it work out?

I hate when people do this. Like why make a video donor and not try it out to see results

How heavy is your motor? And do it ride good on the water with so much weight on the back?

Did you use anything to help prevent the motor mount where it bends from pressing into the boat? Some people use pvc pipe or other to spread the weight/pressure etc.

Hey man, nice video! Saw ur comment from another video of the like. Had a quick question for ya, was thinking of getting the IE5 and outfitting it with a collapsible floor-board.. Since Ill be using a trolling motor for it is well, am I going to need to do this for the added durability/stability? I'm going to be using it to fish harbors and bays
@JiggyC

hey thanks. if your just using a 55lbs thrust or lower trolling motor you can just use the stock intex engine mount. its only when you go higher or if you do a small gas motor like I did that you would need to do this mod.

Not that hard to find. Go to home depot or lowes and ask one of the workers where they are.
