To get in touch with me about a custom tree swing on your property in the Triangle area of North Carolina please visit www.piedmonttreeclimbing.org/... or call 919-928-4230.
Piedmont Tree Climbing has installed over 400 custom tree swings - mainly in North Carolina but also throughout the Southeast United States and as far away as Central America.
I specialize in working with my customers and their unique trees to design, create, and install swings with long, smooth, swing arcs that will provide years of happy memories for young and old.
SOME POPULAR KINDS OF SWING SEATS
* (1:00 on timeline) Web Riderz nest seat. Has a 600 pound weight limit! Great for 3-4 kids at a time. Beware of low quality nest seats that have to be assembled after delivery and often has a 200-300 pound weight limit. It is much better to get a seat with a single piece of tubular steel for the outer ring.
* (1:31 on timeline) Wooden disc seat. This 1-person seat has a 250 pound limit and allows for more active play than a nest seat.
* (2:01 on timeline) Swurfer. 250 pound weight limit. Use it seated or standing!
Can’t decide what kind of seat you want? I incorporate a coupling into nearly all my swings that allows the user to interchange multiple swing seats!
5 MOST COMMON SWING CONFIGURATIONS
* (2:53 on timeline) Single Rope Swing. Most versatile type of swing. Requires a strong limb far from the trunk.
* (3:32 on timeline) Double Rope Swing. Can be hard to find a level limb to use.
* (4:03 on timeline) Y Swings. Ideal distance between trees is 18-30 feet. Anchor bolts are usually installed through the trunk at 30-40 feet high.
* (4:55 on timeline) V Swings. Ideal distance between trees is 10-20 feet. Anchor bolts are usually installed through the trunk at 22-30 feet high.
* (5:19 on timeline) Swurfer swings. To install the Swurfer on a tensioned cable requires two straight trunks 30-40 feet apart. Each trunk needs to be more than 4 feet around at chest height. Swurfer ropes are usually mounted about 30 feet high.
Safety is of primary importance in all my tree swings designs. The materials I use have breaking strengths in the 1000’s of pounds. The ropes and rust proof hardware are made for outdoor rigging applications and are maintenance free for at least a decade. All friction points are metal on metal, which means you don’t have to worry about ropes fraying or the tree being damaged.
I’m a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, which means that I understand tree biology and the physics and forces at work in trees. I can identify hazards from the canopy all the way down to the roots. If trees needs to be removed to create a secure swing path I can do that safely too.
