Does it use stepper motors instead of Servos? The position is read via rotary encoders or linear scales?

The 15L Slant-PRO lathe uses stepper motors and an encoder on the spindle for continuous feedback.

The Slant-PRO lathe has no feed back on the motion axis.

Can you customize the conversational tool paths? For example to lessen the multiple cutoff "plunges" ?

+Paul Boonyanetr Yes, the conversational tool paths are very customizable. The best place to learn about this is in one of our manuals, below is a link to the 15L Slant-PRO Lathe manual. You can start with the Introduction to Control Software (starting on page 40) and then the Conversational section (starting on page 64). You are overshooting X zero (facing) with a carbide cutter = not good!
