I ordered one from you guys. Really excited. Hoping my kit with battery and charger comes with everything I need. Charging connector adapters etc. I went with the 32t chainring size. Seems this would be more appropriate for an off road full suspension mountain bike setup. We will see. Running 10sp 11-46t in the rear. Can't wait to install!

Great video. I'm thinking of putting this on a Santa Cruz V10 carbon. The Stealth might work nicely. Interesting to note on the IP66 water rating: Water projected in powerful jets (12.5 mm nozzle) against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. But it cannot protect against water immersion. So that potentially wet ride that takes you on a river crossing will not be good for this motor, or any ebike for that matter.

I am really excited for this! Lot's of good upgrades from the gen 2, but what I am really curious is about is whether they have managed to deal with the noise issue. They said it would be significantly quieter, would you say that is accurate? Was kinda hard to tell from the short throttle test in the video.

I was super stoked about the updated axle system... but really, what did they think about the BB attachment? Two tubes screwed against each other (there a some pressfit options on the market which worklike that), wiggleing around in the threads of the BB housing and destroying them. Seriously, who uses a nail when a screw is intended???
@electrifybike
2 жыл бұрын
Its a trade-off. Gen3 is a much simpler installation. The right half the bottom bracket comes pre-attached to the motor and gear reduction. No way to screw it in with it pre-assembled like that. All of the BBS and TSDZ2 motors are a compression fit without threading in also. If they are tight enough they don't wiggle and mess up the threads. I am pretty sure Gen3 will be fine.
@egonzalez4294
2 жыл бұрын
I have a threadless BB in a BSA which works the same way and it works suprisingly well, but it does mess the threads but not the way you think, the small mini gap slowly captures moisture, causing corrosion; you need to put some heavy retaining compound, but even that may not save it. That saying I agree with this decision because this means that you are not dependent in your frame on where the threads are, in some bikes, like mine, this causes issues with offsets and horrible chainlines, not to add issues with some BB shells being literal crap and being offcenter and a motor would absolutely pick that up and wreck your threads, I assume the pipe from this design should be way more accurate than what the shell provides, sometimes threads go too deep and destroy themselves, or are floating, for example after adding spacers in the v2 I was left with 2mm of threads and the only solution would've been a clamp fit; the v3 makes it work; I can imagine some improvements but the radial forces shouldn't be that high, as long as they are lesser than the bearing friction it should hold; I think the spacers should be improved, I'll make my own, but other than that, I think this works better. But yes it's a tradeoff with the threads now being more exposed and more likely to get damaged; thin aluminum sheets covered in compound may help if there's space for it, but in my case, I don't mind, the v3 will work better than the v2 without any modifications to my frame.

There are two settings in the smartphone app that can affect that. One is the motor direction, the other is which motor the X6 is being used on. The Pro is an in-runner motor and the Stealth is an out-runner motor and they spin in opposite directions. If the motor spins in reverse you hear it but nothing happens because of the clutch.

Will the new X6/12 controllers be able to be bought separately and used with other motors like the BBSHD? With the 41 week delay on BAC kits, the lack of frankenrunner compatibility, and the scarcity of Ludicrous controllers, it would be really nice to have another controller option on the market.

With wide range gearing in the back, a 38T is great to be able to still get some exercise at 25mph. That said, it uses a standard BCD104 chainring and the Pro will take 30T to 52T and the Stealth will take from 30T to 46T.
