Mate this film is interesting to see old Darwin even though it's destroyed, Would you recommend building a above ground house in this era?

I find it weird. The whole house is gone but the front stairs are still there in one peice.

When I returned to Adelaide after Tracy my friends wanted to see photos of my home in Wanguri, Darwin. I said, 'you don't understand, I lost everything including my camera!!

So glad you were able to capture the aftermath Keith. It still blows me away the destruction and the ability to rebuild.

G'day Dan, nice to hear from you. My ol car is retired to the long grass and I'm not so far from there, myself. Happy new year wherever you are.

I keep making mistakes on this and sending incoherent grabs. Excuse my clumsiness. Anyway, others have recognised Trower Road and vicinity. Those northern suburbs were new to me at the time - indeed, they were brand new suburbs and they'd have all looked the same after Tracy. As for making 'another doco' and there have been a few, I do still have some important pics of people rebuilding and doing stuff in the January of 1975. This video, you will have noticed, had not a single living soul in the way. It's basically 'wallpaper'. Rather ugly but hopeful and disturbing wallpaper. Thanks for your comments and interest. kb

Keith Bushnell It's interesting to see the old Darwin homes. So many upstairs/elevated houses here back in those days. I wasn't born until January 77 so the Darwin I grew up in was *nothing* like it was before Cyclone Tracy. I'm so glad I wasn't here when Cyclone Tracy came. The stories certain family members and other people I know have told me are scary enough just hearing them. It would've been *very* scary going through Cyclone Tracy. Like I said, I'm glad I wasn't here when she came.
