Unknown. More likely than not he survived. That means more than a 50 percent chance, but not certain. Who he was is absolutely unknown. Almost a thousand individuals have confessed either to law enforcement or to private parties. Many more have been fingered by friends, relatives, and current or ex-spouses and domestic partners. I consider it possible the authorities knew who he was and put him under deep cover because they did not want his identity and backstory known due to national security implications or just plain embarrassment. I doubt extremely that he is alive today. I estimate his year of birth to be 1928.

True, with so many people claiming to be, or know who it was because of the infamous folklore surrounding the case it was probably impossible to spot the valid tips that may have lead to a resolution. Or... as you say the reason the case went nowhere is because the FBI wanted it to go nowhere. I guess we will ponder it for many more years.

No. It’s just far more romantic to believe he did. If the money had surfaced in circulation different story but not one dollar ever hitting circulation I say hell no he perished.

Cooper's chances of survival rest not on what he wore on the outside, but what he wore underneath. A diving suit, for instance would keep him warm, and also could be used if he landed in the water

Mt St Helens: If Cooper landed around there, but dead, the spectacular May 1980 volcano eruption could have obliterated any remains of Cooper.

Another good point, I guess without any way to document the exact path of the aircraft, exact time he left the aircraft, the exact weather when he left the aircraft it truly is a needle in a haystack situation. Thanks for watching.

I still wonder if there will ever be info that surfaces to confirm who it was. Probably not at this point. 🤷♂️

I'm pretty sure he made it. Someone would have found something by now other than a few bills. His body or his chute would have surely turned up by now.

True I guess, just cold, wet and cloud cover at 5000'. Probably still not ideal for someone to jump into. Thanks.
