Can you please provide alternatives for people that cant have pork/meat in general for religious/dietary/personal reasons. Like with fish, chicken, beef, or veg only. What would the ingredients be then, would they remain the same. Thank you

For those making these at home, my Taiwanese MIL would always say, ‘if your filling falls out, that’s ok. It just becomes part of the water, and you serve it as soup.’ No matter what, it will be delicious and a gift to anyone you are serving this dish. So set fear aside and wrap away 😊

You are so fortunate to have your parents especially your dad! My father was a chef but passed away when I was 19! I lost my mom 6 years ago and I'm currently 52 years old! I tried to maintain many of my Cantonese heritage but have long forgotten until I found your channel! I can now cook many of those great dishes my father made for us as kids! Thank you!!

I am NOT buying crap from Hello Fresh to "support" the Laus. Here your Father is cooking from scratch, and you run these dishonest, misleading ads. Just for starters, food delivery services are NOT environmentally friendly with all that extra packaging and fossil fuel used up. Shame on you.

I've never commented in any KZitem videos my entire life, but watching how passionate Daddy Lau about teaching his heritage to others is so, so moving. I'm actually crying because I wish I had the same kind of relationship with my dad as you do. Daddy Lau is the dad I never had. You're very blessed. Normally, I'm not a fan of recipe videos that are almost 30 minutes long, because they feel prolonged. However, it's different from this channel. Every recipe has a lot of thought, passion and research put into it, not to mention that the information is given out systematically and is easy to understand. Keep it up, Randy. I look forward to watching more of these masterclasses. P.S. Your interaction with your dad is so wholesome that it warms your viewers hearts and puts a smile to their faces. I hope you and your family continue to be happy for many more years.

years ago i tried to follow my grandma's recipe for wonton soup. my wrapping technique was pathetic and I think I boiled it too long so the wrappers slipped off and dissolved into the soup. my grandma fondly called it my "creamy naked wonton soup" hahaha she's passed on now but maybe she'll appreciate me trying again. :D

My mom would make these by the dozens. We always had a bag in the freezer. She would buy the pork from a Chinese market that made extra coarse ground pork. She'd use buth shrimp and water chestnut. Your dad is a treasure.

Daddy Lau is someone i look up to. I love it when an individual from another culture shares his knowledge and secrets of cooking to people internationally. Food/cooking will always be the universal “Language” to connect with other individuals. All that on the same table is memories/shared experiences to be made.

Your dad is absolutely right about not using ground meat for wontons/dumplings. For years, I've been trying to perfect my dumpling recipe but I just seem to never get it right (i was using store bought ground pork). One day I decided to mince my own pork and it really changed the game. Thank you for all the great tips!!

Just made this for dinner and ssssssshhhhhhhh, these wontons are even better than my own dad's (He was born and raised in Kowloon, Hong Kong) ... The filling is AMAZING, thank you Daddy Lau! I am half Chinese like Kat, and I didn't learn to speak Cantonese or to cook from my dad unfortunately. You are filling a place in my heart with connection to my culture that I can hand down to my children. There are no words to express how warm and comforting it is to hear Daddy Lau speaking in Cantonese. Brings me back to childhood hearing my dad talk to family on the phone

for the so many videos of daddy lau's that i have watched, the most heart warming moment is the father and son feeding one another with a wanton. that alone speaks. volumes.. daddy lau so affectionately putting his hand, patting over randy, a sign of absolute love, like a baby randy to daddy lau... forever a baby randy.. wonderful daddy.. . keep up this heart warming moments Randy !

I just wanted to say that I love these cooking videos. This is such an amazing way to document all of your dad's recipes and the fact that he loves sharing them with his family and us. This is just so wholesome. I love that you include the rest of the family as well, hearing the stories your parents tell about the food, and their lives. I love cooking channels, but this by far is my favorite. I have been making so many of your dad's recipes lately, and not one of them has turned out bad, they are so amazing and delicious. Have you thought about maybe making a cookbook? The history of Chinese Food? You could have recipes then stories about each dish? Thank you for sharing your family and your dad's delicious recipes with us. ❤️

I really enjoy the format of these videos. The meal time chatting is always very interesting, and blacking the camera at the end of the table makes it almost seem like the viewer is actually at the table enjoying the conversation with everyone else.

While I really enjoy all of Daddy Lau's recipes, my favorite part of your videos is watching the respect, warmth and love you have for each other. The way your father smiles at you and lovingly touches your hair (which he does to your son as well) always makes me have happy tears in my eyes! I am so excited for this recipe! I’ve been using your recipes so much the past few weeks and they have all been a hit! My husband is from HK and all his family is in Vancouver, BC. We have two small kids so we aren’t going out to Chinatown or other places because of COVID. Your videos are truly giving me a way to share parts of their Chinese heritage with my kids, as well as bringing joy to my husband who often goes without his favorite dishes because I never was able to make them! I’m also trying to learn Cantonese so that when we finally get to see his Mom again, I’ll be able to communicate with her…so I’m using your videos as part of that. I’ve also printed out all your recipes abs made them into a binder…I can’t wait to add more! Thank you and your Dad and your whole family for bringing us so much!

Good cloud swallowing skin with small yellow fish dry grinding powder to mix flour made, cooking cloud swallowing will also put small fish dry soup, in addition to shrimp allergy can be used with column or abalone, shrimp to replace is also good, especially shrimp pulp taste is very good. I absolutely love the Cantonese wontons. Yum. But I love even more the love among the family. So touching how Daddy Lau stroked his son's head and the son fed a wonton into daddy's mouth. You can feel the love in the family.

I appreciate the videos preserving Chinese & Cantonese cooking. Having English subtitles and detailed explainations in English and Cantonese will help the generations that are less in touch with the culture of their ancestors to make good and tasty food.
