Recipe for Dal:
Rinse 1 Cup of Lentils, or Yellow Split Peas.
Cover with a couple inches of salted water, add a Bay Leaf, and bring to a boil, approximately 20 min.
Drain when tender and set aside while you make the Gravy:
Sauté half a chopped yellow Onion in Olive Oil and stir occasionally until browned.
In a separate pan add Olive Oil, Cumin Seeds, Ginger, Cinnamon, Coriander and Garam Masala (see recipe for Garam Masala on KZitem).
Optional, add Garlic paste, chopped Tomato and Jalapeno Pepper.
When everything is sizzling add Dal to browned onion and drizzle with Gravy Spice.
