I loved this intro because it shows the updated skyline of Dallas and how much the city has grown since the old days. DFW is an enormously big metro area now. Much, much bigger than in the 70s and 80s. I was pissed that TNT canceled this like everyone else, but it was fun while it lasted. Plus, we got to see Larry Hagman and Ken Kercheval on screen one last time.

I don't care if it's a cheesy tourist thing to do, first time I flew into Dallas I damn sure blasted the original theme song as soon as we landed. The elder couple next to me and my wife looked and me and I said, "I have a 90 minute layover, maybe I can solve who shot J.R." Both just smiled and the gentleman said, "I believe you're a little young to get that reference son." I smiled and said "Old souls have good taste. Be safe sir." We shook hands and departed. For some reason that stuck with me.

The way the TNT series ended unfinished like that causes me to completely reject the plot of the new series in every way. ... From my point of view, the new series never happened. ... Michael Zoran It's because we're Big Texas bro. Dallas had their historic run on TV, but ANYTHING Dallas, Houston, or Texas based in general on tv as Series or Reality TV Franchises, or original Big City Texas stuff, the TV punks ALWAYS cut us off!! Animal Cops Houston was the longest running Texas based program on TV since the Original DALLAS program. We need or OWN TV so Texas can make OUR OWN PROGRAMS, and hook up the OTHER Big Cities that count, but get no TV time.

I can remember when Dallas first aired...1978 I think. It was the music theme that caught my attention at 6 years old...by far, the best( and still is) theme of any TV night/day drama/soap. My wife actually had a “Who shot J.R.” T-shirt. It had the famous phrase on the front and on the back it said “I shot J.R.” We really had gotten into the series again when it started on TNT....I actually got chills, hearing the theme music for the first time in13-14 years....never gets old. I agree with everyone about the way they left it hanging, however it leaves room for a possible TV movie to be made and answer the unknown: I guess I can be hopeful and passed at the same time...lol

Looking back, I can understand why people in Houston were so bitter about this show in the 1970s, 80s and early 90s being called Dallas. The show flaunted the oil industry with oil derricks and offshore oil rigs....that's totally Houston's bag, their economy, their specialty. But Hollywood made a show about this and called it "Dallas" instead of "Houston"....which was the real oil town. I have a feeling the Cowboys winning all those Super Bowls is what made Dallas more appealing to make a TV Show about. The newer show from 2012 still gave the oil derrick thing to Dallas, excusable in 1978, but 2012? Dallas is about banks and insurance, not oil and energy.
