He was also Tony Nelson before but Lost In Space was just a warm up for I Dream of Genie to come on.He was Blake Carrington before Crystal was Blake's next wife, heck if he were younger when Jerry Jones slithered his way in the Dallas Cowboys he could have played him to and probably wouldn't know the difference. I always did like these scenes. For all that they had gone through over the years, there was one thing that was clear, Sue Ellen was always JR’s one true love. His match. His Ms. One. He knew it. His parents knew it. The audience knew it. They were really a matched set. He loved her. He just didn’t know HOW to love her or let her love him. In the original series, it took him till the later seasons to figure it out. And by then it was too late. But both of his parents tried to warn him but they should have told him long before they did though. He had to learn the lesson the hard way. By the time of the TNT series, when he is ready to try to court her again, his health has failed and now it is really to late for him to try. And yet he wrote her the letter with the hope of wanting to do just that. How tragic.

Obviously, Larry Hagman played his role to perfection as J.R. Ewing as a scheming, conniving rogue in the original 'Dallas' series... But coming back to the role in 2012, he made the character even more devious and sinister... Maybe it was his age that made him look even more like a character from a horror flick, but the menace and malice of his character was more effective at age 80 than it was at age 40 when he was the suave-looking, conniving businessman running around w/ younger women.... and that is the mark of a great actor who can play a villain as well as leading man the way he did so effectively ...
