Well, he was telling the truth. Ellie was wrong as the day is long to give Clayton any part of Southfork, at least without talking with the family about it first. She knew that the legacy of Southfork came from Jock Ewing and not even her own father who almost lost the place. I don't know why the writers had her trying to give Southfork to the wrong people--first it was her brother Garrison when he came back after she thought he was dead for decades and then she wanted to share the deed with Clayton who should have refused out of respect for Jock's legacy there. In fact, Clayton should have insisted that he and Ellie build another home of their own on Southfork and let JR stay on at the Ewing house with Bobby and whoever else wanted to live there. I'm sure there was enough land for a new house and it would've been a place that truly belonged to Clayton without Jock Ewing's memory all over the place and Ellie would be content to stay on Southfork land.

Something that always bugged me about Miss Ellie is her apathy towards J.R.'s feelings and wants. She'd move heaven and earth and bend over backwards if that meant pleasing Bobby or Gary. This was a bad time for JR. He was having to hide John Ross from Sue Ellen, he lost his chance to get into WestStar, & now Clayton of all people is part owner of what JR & Bobby feel is their birthright.

Larry, Ken, and Patrick ruined Dallas in the end. It seemed all three were losing interest in the show and not fighting for better scripts. I have more respect for Law & Order SVU , than I do Dallas. While Law & Order SVU went through cast changes , producer Dick Wolf has always maintain to keep the show on an even level. While Lenard Katzman could not maintain, Dallas anymore. It showed very much in the writing that Mr.Katzman was losing interest in the original Dallas. Very Sad.

the conflicts btwn jr & clayton where all bogus for entertainment......there were kids in that home ellie was push over but she was not violent either......clayton has no authority to put his hand on jr. EVER n ellie shld have shut that dwn at the gate.....but dallas was ass-backwards many times....this scene was only done to set the stage for sue-ellen n nick Pearce to come to Jr. condo to confront him over hiding john-ross n sue ellen cld shoot him......mid season 14 clayton visist absent of ellie cause she had no desire to see any of them(not plausible since the sons lived at southfork at the behest of ellie) in his final visit he comes to advise the sons that ellie has deeded 100% of SF to bobby n jr had a shit-fit (in the reboot...vry shortly after jr's death...John-ross learns that ellie has deeded him 50% of SF)...end of s10 there charter is revoked and they are forced to sell ewing oil and all its assests...finale scene of that episode jr learns it was wendell that did the ewings in n weststar purchased all the ewing oil assests including the office building....end of s11 bobby has gotten the ewing oil name back meanwhile jjr has forced wendells hand an gotten all the assests back(seriious bulll cause jr did not purchase the assets back he traded an easment for the assests which at the time of the forced sale...they were valued at $800m...NO CEO wld have the authority to sign away that dollar amnt of a publicly held co absent of board consent)...even deeper unplausible bullshit....bobby returns frm paris in shock over april's death n announces he is selling ewing oil....how in the fuck cld he sell ewing oil when it has already been established that while bobby retained the name, jr retained the assests....rose nyland and chrissy snow cld tell u that the name of a company who's charter had been revoked by the justice dept is worth all of 2 cents. therefore a sale wld be 100% impossible....not to mention that during the reading of jock's will his longtime lawyer harve smithfiled (same trusted lawyer who faught against ellie in court when she attempted to overturn the will) read allowed jocks expressed written last wishes...that noone but a ewing ever own ewing oil...bobby was present when those last wishes were read allowed.....becuase those last wishes were expressed in writing in a will that had been probated....Jr or harve cld have filed an injunction to black any attempted sale..they wld have jockeyed back n fourth for years if a sale was attempted...and a probated will containg written expressed wishes associated with the sole owner wld have been honored...

Miss Ellie should have never allowed JR to disrespect Clayton who was a good man. The house and ranch was hers to do what she wanted. Each son should have stepped out of their “ Daddy’s shadow “ and make a name for theirselves especially since JR couldn’t run the business as a family business. Each son Gary included had equal shares. JR should have been happy and supportive of Gary as he was one less person to fight with for control of Ewing Oil.

Actually, Gary was Miss Ellie's favorite son. He took his name from her brother, Garrison after all. Miss Ellie clinged to Gary and had hoped for years that he would come back home to Southfork. It took a long time for Miss Ellie to finally deal with the fsct that Gary was never coming back to Southfork.

JR was always blunt and to the point! He was right and as usual, Bobby the liberal, just goes along and sees half of his Father’s Ranch go to a stranger. Was Clayton so sensitive that after 4+ years married to Miss Ellie, he moped around until his wife gave him half of her family’s ranch to make him feel better? Jock saved that ranch for his wife and family, THE EWING FAMILY! Not for another man to own it for free!

Also, keep in mind that Jock & Miss Ellie's relationship was based on a House of Cheating Cards. Remember when Miss Ellie was about to lose The Southfork she needed Jock's help. He did "Marry" her but their relationship was based more on a Business Arrangement than anything else.

I agree with JR on this and that's very rare for me, its a disgrace to Jock's memory and Miss Ellie had no right to even suggest such a thing, at there age all they need to share is there love of family and friends, it would have more sensible to keep his own ranch and move Miss Ellie there, JR and his siblings since he was the first born and if he should die before Bobby then it should go to Bobby,
