17:26 The problem is that people think their process of self-actualization lies in helping others self-actualize. Daniel should make it clear that you have to do your own work first. Also (and equally important), competition is NOT an obsolete concept. We're simply trying to restore the true meaning of competition, which is..."to go with, to go together." The best way to do this is to see the people who challenge us as our greatest friends/assets. They are offering us the opportunity to elevate ourselves.

7:47 writing a note for my own convenience. "when you get a new property [emerging through synergy], the universe selects for that" - it's easy to see from this point how universal love might be the emergent quality that takes us to the next level of evolution. It might even explain the Fermi paradox. If the universe selects for that which best synergizes with it's surroundings, this would surely be known by extraterrestrial life--and, unless they're absolutely positive that us humans are capable playing nicely, they would have no reason to come into contact with our civilization.

I was first confronted with thoughts about emergence in the early 70‘s by Konrad Lorenz, who defined it as a kind of collaboration of existing and meaningful entities, that newly combined produce qualities, that didn‘t exist before. Despite of adoring Lorenz at that time, I wasn‘t quite satisfied with that explanation. So I had to develop my own theory. The basic idea idea was, that „higher developed“ is synonymous with having more spatial or temporal range. But how can this happen to be? By chance I discovered the concept of absoluta. These absoluta are defined by having the power of building up infinity in a surrounding sea of narrowness. The basic absolutum for life is carbon. It‘s able to build up infinite combinations of chemical compounds. Another absolutum comes into play, when oxygen was abundant, so that organisms only have to seek for reducing agents. This gave way for complex multicellular life on earth. A third absolution is the optical sense, that isn‘t depending on certain events, but provides animals with an infinite flow of raw information for infinite possibilities of evaluation. Absoluta are defining a virtual space, where evolution can invade into. They are not the emergence itsself, but without them there will be no emergence.
@r1reis
2 жыл бұрын
where is this concept of absoluta from?
@cynocephalusw
2 жыл бұрын
@@r1reis I haven't found anyone else with a similar concept. The interesting thing for me is the necessity of reliability in absolutions. When it is lost, there will be always a radical fallback in more primitive interactions. Imagine an electrical blackout and its consequences!

Ah, the experiences from the walled garden. I do appreciate and agree with much of what he says. Instead attacks on society have become very profitable. Addiction masks a much bigger issue that is afoot. At the "therapy" and LEO level drugs,crime, and addiction are all synonymous. As people find ways to cope with an increasingly hostile world, addiction is actually facilitated. Much of the problem is worsened through social engineering. Technology plays on addiction processes as well to drive data collection. Profit in poverty and social reeducation. The abuse does not stop instead it is harnessed as a political tool, or to break identity.

Brilliant talk! Just want to say this makes the idea of copyright become absurd. It always was. I loved many things from this talk however the idea that all issues are global is a colossal "no-no". Absolutely not. All issues must be local in fact. He goes against the very talk he just gave by touting a global orientation - we must be like cells in the whole. Everything stems from the core - the individual. Each of us is a core, a pebble dropped into a pond with our transmissions going outward. The core has a partner, then a family, then a neighborhood, then a community then a village then a region then a state. The states make the spokes on the hub. There must never, never, NEVER, be a global anything! There is no need for it. We need to learn how to relate because all is relationship. We must steer clear of hierarchy - if our previous years of barbarity and the present too tells us anything it is that. Nature says it loudly too. There is no hierarchy in nature. The part at the end where he said that we must be mildly psychopathic to enjoy our lives while others are suffering was melodiously resonant to my ears. Yes! This is what humanity is missing.

It’s a leap to say that the reason cells exhibit emergent behavior is because of the order in which the parts were put together. There is no experiment or evidence that has shown an example of emergence that is due to order. There is quite clearly a missing link between parts and emergence. Or more likely yet, there is a missing perspective.

Emergence Yes, it's true we are at a Turning Point and in a process of Emergence. But in practical Evolutionary terms what does this mean, for us here & now? And how do we learn from this process, and minimise the inevitable chaos and disruption that naturally comes with change and emergence? Just as the child moving into adolescence, and the adolescent venturing out into the world for the first time, who cannot know what they are facing on their own, we collectively cannot see what's really occurring, because we're within it. But we can learn from others who have already undergone this process, who have already matured and grown up. Looking at our history, it's so obvious that we've moved beyond fairy tales and to some extent superstition, but humanity is still barbaric and warlike. We're oppositional like adolescents. We think independence and freedom means doing whatever we like, despite the consequences. But that's just reckless and irresponsible, just like teenagers. It lacks maturity. So yes, we are emerging into something greater, a wider world than just our own, a Greater Community around us, full of intelligent life, of which we know very little. And how could we? Because we've hardly even been to the bottom of our oceans, let alone moved about within our own solar system. Yet in terms of evolution, there is a natural process, which happens regardless of upbringing or readiness. Unfortunately, in our situation, we haven't been well prepared. But fortunately for us, we have been sent a preparation and guidance from those who have evolved before us. They share the lessons they've learnt and give their best advice on what we must do. These Briefings from the Allies of Humanity have been made available free online now for the whole of humanity. Unlike other interference (of immoral and unethical contact), the Briefings sent by the Allies of Humanity, are not about them coming here to rescue us. We should know that by now, from our own planetary history, that going to 'help out' only leads to indirect colonisation and dominance. Besides, whoever offers assistance usually does so for ulterior motives - mostly because they want to access resources for themselves (eg oil or trade deals). So these Briefings must be taken seriously, and considered for the warnings they offer, and the wisdom they impart. Will we Emerge into the Greater Community a free and sovereign human race, or will we become enslaved and overwhelmed? How will we unite to maintain our self-sufficiency, and protect our communications? How will we collectively steward the planet responsibly, particularly now as the Great Waves of Change strike, and we face need and destitution within our own world from climate and financial disasters. Will we come together and take care of each other, or continue warring, like other native peoples did in the face of invaders? Now is the time to grow up and face reality, to cooperate and find innovative solutions to the challenges before us, just as any adolescent has to do in finding a team to work with, a community to participate in and service to contribute to their neighbourhoods and maybe even the world. Will we succeed or be a casualty? Will we emerge successfully? There's a lot at stake.
@darielblackburn9771
5 жыл бұрын
Very thought provoking, Selma. Yes, will we be agents of emergence, taking part in co-creating a better world for ALL humanity for tomorrow as we enter/emerge into the much greater arena of intelligent life, OR will we separate further and war further? Will we contribute to humanity's uniting in the face of destructive events to become a more mature and evolved race that can survive and contribute to the Greater Community we are emerging into OR will we become the slaves of other more technologically advanced races already taking advantage here? If we choose to engage on a more mature level it will take a great preparation for a future that will be so unlike our past... AlliesofHumanity[dot]org

I think of the fetus development inside the total environment of the womb, who emerges into the greater environment & becomes connected to a larger life support system -/ as opposed to being subjected to abortion which is the invasion of the safe haven & destruction of that life form. Without getting into the typical pro / con argument , I view abortion as a kind of systemic ideology on a micro level - that acts out in various ways on a macro level . . with regards to wiping out certain sectors, groups, communities, tribal nations, etc. 🌱🐿🌿🦔🍄 I think that we have been in a state of warring since the beginning of time.. it has never stopped... It has only mutated into thousands of different manifestations. 🔦 I don’t see any way out of this ..eternal fighting & warring on a global level .. However , I am working on it at a personal level ~ to have a cease fire within my self.. To end the war between me & me . It’s a tough battle , because as it turns out, I have been taught & I have been influenced to both fear & hate my self . I have been taught to go against myself to obey authority figures. I have been taught I was born into sin & therefore I must whip myself into shape. - Since the beginning of the new age, January 2020 - I have been learning to be in alliance within my self . It’s a daily process ...I an individually working on world peace, by ending the war against my self ( I am reclaiming the abandoned parts of myself that I don’t like, want, fear , guilt , shame , etc. and I am working on integrating them into the world that is within me ..🌱🐿🌿🦔 🙋🏻

Why say that there is no respiration before cells? Its like claiming plants have no awareness. Yes self awareness emerges from that which appears to not be self aware. Appears being the key word. My problem with this is that to build a metaphysical philosophy on science is not what science is actually good for. What we have here is a new mythology, better than the old one, in many ways, but still, "elegantly ordered complexity" descriptions like this are just another world view, model, paradigm. I think we need to catch ourselves playing these games. I think we should be careful about creating a new belief system.

It's a wonderful vision. But something much more wonderful is coming. One in which we are able to move molecules precisely, very precisely, and recycle everything, everything becomes a resource. No more pollution, because pollution simply means throwing away resources. This requires more more and more accelerating technology NOT politics NOT rationing NOT climate taxes. Technology. That's the only thing that can give us the power to move molecules as precisely as we need to move them. And that means each one of us with our own personally owned productive technology, not some high-tech version of a soup line.

I don't think you can talk about emergence without talking about information (in the Shannon sense). And I also think you need to talk about another concept (that I'm not aware of anyone else identifying), which is information space. You can think of the universe as a huge 4-D 'circuit' of sorts, or a field. And emergence is just the manifestation of information finding the path of least resistance through that information space or field. This is just how I look at it, but I haven't seen anyone else discuss it this way.
