This is what you get when a rock drummer knows jazz music. It has nothing to do with the techniques etc its to do with the imagination of improvisation to come up with unique original phrases, grooves, drum parts & more! Danny perfectly displays here how he can move the music in any direction he desires. It give the music real purpose, drive & status that leaves audiences with lifetime memories!

Ladies, gentlemen and drummers alike - Introducing the most underappreciated drummer... GOAT Danny Seraphine!!
@MrRealDrummer
12 жыл бұрын
He does with one hand what some drummers can't do with two. Plus, the entire time, it looks as though he makes the sticks do all the work. His drumsticks are bouncing off the drumheads and rolling and doing all sorts of crazy stuff and he's just sitting almost still gently shaking his head to the beat. Crazy. Danny's an artist.

Danny and Michael Shrieve are two of the most under-rated drummers. These two demonstrate the importance of that jazz background and that it is quality over quantity. Watch a video of Danny at Tanglewood and Mike at Woodstock! Both playing basically a "starter kit" (minimum equipment) make Peart and his gazillion drums & cymbals sound like a kid banging on mom's pots & pans.

In many ways Danny is actually the main reason Chicago ever even happened, he was the one real reason everyone decided to stay together and try again and look what they became and yet he was fired from what "he" pretty much made happen and wouldn't have without him.

When Danny was in Chicago, they swung, then came the 80's and power pop drum machine nonsense was in vogue. And Chicago never swung the same. The drummers that came after were good but they just didn't swing, they seemed to come from more of a rock background then the early jazz-rock Chicago. Would have to hear the difference in the Chicago big band album from years ago if Danny was the drummer.

@@cameronreed1021 I also heard that Chicago forced Danny to switch from acoustic drums to metal/electric drums to which he declined, resulting in the band firing him.
