I agree. I can't imagine the kind of fortitude it must have taking the son to continue visiting his father, spending two or three days at a time with him in order to watch him and investigate around the house, knowing that the man killed his mother. But he did it, and thanks to him, the mystery was solved. It's amazing it was solved at all with how slow that process was. I can't believe it took them 12 months to get a warrant because the bread oven would have to be destroyed.

1st story: "It is quite clear that someone had hidden the body there". Nice one, Colombo! I very much appreciate this video. These examples of incompetence and complacency by police, prosecutors, and the judiciary are shocking and deserve to be held up to the blinding light of scrutiny. In doing so with such sensitivity and attention to detail, you've done a service to these victims and their families that the so-called "law and order" systems in these countries failed to render.

Lennert's parents knew who and what he was. That's why they refused to let him live with them and send him to live with foster parents, then when that ended they setup him up in an apartment far from them. And when that didn't work and he showed up at their front door, they only let him live in an out building and NOT inside the house with them; I'll bet they even made sure to lock all the doors and windows. They knew he was a seriously dangerous monster.

Another thing that I’ve learnt from watching true crime stories is that killing a spouse aboard a cruise ship also seems to be (or was) an excellent way to get away with murdering someone. Just watch a few, true crime stories about “disappearances” whilst holidaying on cruise ships/ocean liners, it’s astounding. Hopefully it’s not as easy these days….hopefully, but I don’t know. I’d have to check out the dates etc. Has anyone else noticed the whole cruise ship thing? Let me know 🙂🐿

But before modern techniques, how else are the police to figure out if there is at least something suspicious.? The technique as afar as I can make it out is tomake a suspect tell his story over and over again on the assumption that if he's lying, he will eventually slip up and let some damning statement out of his mouth. Of course,I suppose even an innocent person will eventually make mistakes but that would be checked against other evidence. Not perfect and of course there are miscarriagesof justice but at least furture potential crimials will know what they are going to undergo.Nothing's perfect. However, the Nordic countries are noted for their lack of crime especially violent crime.

@@paulohagan3309 two problems one that's not all they do it also involves lying to suspects, lack of sleep and food, and various other forms of psychological manipulation. Roughly 40% of confessions in the US are false. And comparing it to evidence only works if the cops actually compare it. There have been numerous cases of police or district attorneys suppressing or flat out hiding evidence that someone is innocent to get a conviction.

Hilkka Saarinen was let down in every possible way. Abuse is this predictably awful story that just never ends and sometimes it just feels like there's no excuse for it to go as it does. Could no one, not even her son, who knew the danger she was in, have convinced her to leave or even forcibly taken her elsewhere? Furthermore, everyone she confided in probably wanted to do right by her in death, at the very least, but none of their testimony mattered--not even the clear feeling and suspicions of her son did. Finally, shouldn't anybody who has proven himself capable of killing a person (even unintentionally, as far as the court found) because of abusive behavior be institutionalized in a way that reflects that dangerous tendency, or at least perpetually monitored unless or until it's proven that they can be trusted to be alone with another person? Whatever happened in court here, there seem to be unfortunate cracks that he slipped through. It's hard to fault ordinary people for not helping abused women - there are legal reasons why it's best they decide to help themselves, but it's still hard to imagine that nobody could have changed these events there when things were so clearly terrifying. Certainly all professional parties involved failed in near unforgivable ways.

This KZitem channel is criminally UNDERRATED! How Curious World doesn’t have at least 1 Million subscribers proves that people love ingesting the same regurgitated rinse + repeat content. Ohh but some do add the unfathomable needless ‘’let me tell you these same stories that you’re already tiredly familiar with BUT… while I apply my makeup’’ 💄 What I find more insulting are the piss poor narrators that seemingly have fixable lisps but what’s worse these naive people are just saying words with their face that they’ve evidently never heard before & although they clearly don’t know what the words are they just cruise through it anyways. Macabre for example. My last bitch & moan complaint -> are the non imaginative CREEPYPASTAS that are just Copt+ Pasted from REDDIT & often under the guise of authenticity & being truthful. WHYY? When anyone w/ basic common sense knows truth has & will always be stranger, more fascinating & leads to better ‘’rabbit holes‘’ Anyways?! Then ya scroll down & read the comments to see how many ppl are disgusted w/ the clickbaity content that is SO far away from reality & ya see comment after comment praising the KZitemr & stating ‘WOW. amazing that a 12 foot cat hybrid humanoid man with kangaroo hopping legs 🦵 🦘are being kept secret from the public.’ 😒🤯😂 That’s when I fully realize I’ve arrived at ‘’that age’’ where I think yeah…kids these days’’ lol. Appreciate your work Curious. Since decent channels are hard to come by lemme shout some more. Lol. Weird World. The Odd Side. Beyond Creepy. Bedtime Stories. Top 5s {uk dudes} is usually always top notch. Paranormal Post & paranormal junkie is usually decent. Soup Emporium is another awesome & HILARIOUS channel I recently found. Thank you, Tara. It's not that I disappear as such, it just takes me a long time to make videos. Also, I wanted to do something like this for Canada. @Tara_P_Rose
2 жыл бұрын
@@CuriousWorldProductions I think that would be a fabulous idea, to split them all up into the provinces & territories, because usually when I watch anything on Canada it’s always directed towards Toronto (Ontario), while I know that it’s the most popular & most ppl haven’t heard or don’t know much about the other provinces, I think that’d would be great if you shared an equal spotlight on all of them. If you need help with any of these, I would love to help! I live in Vancouver (hands down the second most popular place!), & we’ve had quite a few high profile crimes here, but maybe you could cover the Willy Pickton, a serial killer who killed & fed over 49 women (convicted of 6) to his pigs. I knew a few of the women personally, so it hit really close to home for me. Also, please try to remember to mention the thousands of indigenous kids that have been found buried in makeshift graves under the Indian residential schools all across Canada. They were taken from their families & put in there to “take the Indian out of them”. I’m indigenous & alot of my relatives went to those schools & they told of horrific sexual, physical, mental, emotional abuse at the hands of the nuns & priests & other kids also, not to mention being forced to forget their language, culture & heritage. Anyways I could go on & on but like I said when you decide to do it, please let me know, I would LOVE to help!!!

The guy who fed women to pigs sounds like something that would be covered a lot on KZitem. I hope not, I'd like to include that. Oh, and the reactions to my pronunciations on this video have been... mixed. 😅

@@CuriousWorldProductions actually the Pickton case isn’t too covered here on KZitem, which I’m surprised about really! I subscribe to a lot of crime channels but barely watch any of them anymore, due to that same reason of them covering the same cases that I’ve seen & heard over & over again! Considering a murder happens every 60 seconds, you would think there would be a ton of cases to cover! Also, another thing that I get so tired of is that they always seem to only cover the U.S., when there are so many other interesting cases all over the world! This is why I love your channel! I’ve never seen any coverage of cases in the Nordic countries & since I love travelling & love learning about other places this is perfect for me! I’ll email you as soon as you’re ready to start covering Canada! Thanks so much & keep up the fantastic work!! 👍🏼🥂✨🍻🤗❤️

@@Tara_P_Rose a murder occurs _every 60 seconds?!?_ Is that an actual statistic, and for what regions/nations?

That first one really draws me in. I wonder how these kids felt. First, their studious digging play actually uncovers bones of a truly impressive size, then it turns out they are actual human bones and then they are told "Yeah, go ahead. Keep digging and tell us what else you find." For some kids, it'd be as creepy as it's portrayed here, but maybe it's also a very core fantasy of children and humans in general . . . When you dig, you can't help thinking you will find something of real weight and importance in this huge undiscovered space you are slowly opening. Of course this was all absolutely abysmal police investigation for the adults involved, but then we get some quite striking details anyway. Someone did a good job finding out that the bullets were likely not actually the thing that caused this guy's death. That revelation must have been quite a moment of note. Bullets from past war training mingling with a more recent murder victim are both a sensational twist and comment oddly on how violence, past and present, mingle in this ordinary place where children were playing and digging. It makes me wonder if the person disposing of this body ever realized there was this secondary potentially misleading thing hiding the truth of the murder--did they notice these historic bullets, as they refilled the hole they dig? Of course, whoever was in that hole, there could still be people who know him alive and he has family somewhere. Good story though it makes, I wish it weren't a true one, some life left untraceable.
