I mean it was hardly guaranteed. Unless you mean he just had raw charisma and talent and I’d agree but it wasn’t super evident when he first showed up. He worked his ass off and grew his character beautifully with the opportunities he was given. When he first showed up he genuinely felt like just another generic big guy that was so common in WWE in the early 2000s. Until he joined evolution he kinda struggled to find his identity. All credit to him is my point here, when he got the opportunity to shine, he knocked it out of the park.

Batista is on record saying he was very quiet and shy growing up, so it makes perfect sense. Also, it was by no means evident he was going to become a big star prior to becoming a workout buddy of Triple H.

Older brother would do this when I was a kid taking me to concerts and he’d purposely stay around late to hang with the newer bands get to band & talk with them, talk music/life/touring. Jimmy Eat World was one for example. 2 years later they are touring as top band with Bleed American coming out. Good life lesson for me

Dave Really Thinks The World Of Both D Von n Maven, Ray Mysterio and Eddie. He was still brand new n unexpectedly on television having to learn the ropes as he went. They were the only few guys who were willing to offer mentorship and guidance regardless of how everyone else in the locker room felt about his fast rise to stardom. I just hope someday I'm surrounded by guys like Them to help teach me along the way. All them guys are CoolAF 🏆💯

I saw deacon Batista at Melbourne crown and he had just debuted. I didn’t have wwe as it was on pay tv but watched it at my mates house. I went up to him and asked him for his autograph even tho I didn’t know really who he was. He gave us his auto and even asked us for the time

Batista did an autograph signing at the GNC I worked at in Burnaby, BC in 2008.. there was so many people the entire 2nd level of the mall was full. I believe there were estimates of 10,000 people. He got his wish.

Funny enough I can confirm just how MASSIVE Batista is because I asked for his autograph before Backlash payperview 2004. He most certainly got what he wanted as this was an autograph signing and I'm happy for all of his success.

I meet Dave years back at a con, such a humble human being, so down to earth and kind. I was still in my scared teenage phase where I’d get star struck in front of celebrities so my dad did the talking and told him that I was a huge fan of his pro wrestling and he took it to heart and personally thanked me for watching him. Man of few words but he chose his words well when he’d speak to you.

I had a friend who went to a meet and greet for the first New Years Revolution in San Juan PR, the people in charge started to ell the wrestlers to finish up and go after a couple of hours , the one guy that said “ no I’m staying longer it’s fine “ was Dave Batista , I always respect little things like that, shows he really appreciated the fans 🤙🤙

the first time i saw batista was also the only time i ever saw ovw. i watched him beat doug basham for the ovw title. a few days later, i was telling my friends about him at great length while doing my best to create leviathan in no mercy. when he debuted on smackdown a few months later, i was watching with those same friends, and i popped. I waited about 4 or 5 hours in line for Batista’s autograph at the Cleveland auto show around 2006. He stayed longer than he was supposed to because there were so many fans.
