Thank you, Dave Grusin, a wonderful piece, at 72 with life in the twilight period it instils so many great memories.

One of the most Beautiful Scores ever for a film. A score is supposed to tell the story in music. This one certainly does. Young people WON'T GET IT FOR ANOTHER 20 OR 25 YEARS. YOU HAVE TO HAVE EXPERIENCED LIFE TO UNDERSTAND THE MOODS AND MELODIES TO LIFE BEFORE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND ITS' MUSIC. IT'S ALL ABOUT LIVING, LOVING , LOSING AND GETTING OLDER. 💙

The gentle flow of daily life bring with it: our joys, stillness, loss, confusion, peace and throughout it all...the gift of music. In the end, a loving surrender and to know God is us and we are Him. In these ways, it is a circle of life and no matter how it appears - all, is well.

Dave Grusin outdid himself on this magnificent score. It has the warmth, intimacy and rhapsodic quality of two lives that have been spent together (like the characters Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda played), as well as the longing and wonder of the beautiful environment at which the movie was shot.

Exquisite, indeed. We played this at my dad's funeral in 2010. We were blessed during his life to enjoy his dream that he made a reality -- our own golden pond.

I started university as a mature student in my 40's. So terrified those early days. I made a "tape" of this theme song and played it non-stop as I drove to university each day, to try and calm myself down. It was very helpful. Will love it always.

Don't mourn the loss of those times. Cherish them but remember they'll come again. As a species, we inevitably repeat the same cycles. Times lost will come again. Perhaps not in the way we expect but they do eventually come again. In between, we are tested with trials and tribulations that we survive and overcome. :) After all, WW2 was horrifying but after it was over, it was hailed a 'Golden Age' by the survivors... and it was in a very real sense.

Yes, it's hard to see your loved ones grow old, and I won't lie, growing old isn't a fun or joyful process for people. I work as a nursing assistant, so I see it all the time. But try to remember that it's the natural cycle of life and that they would rather have been able to grow old than to have had to have died prematurely. At least they're getting a chance to grow to a nice ripe old age. My parents didn't, and many other people don't.
