_“The filming was interrupted at one point by an old man walking his dog, looking for driftwood. Mallet asked him if he wouldn’t mind moving, and pointed out Bowie sitting outside the catering van. ‘Do you know who this is?’ he asked. Sharp as a tack, the old man responded with, ‘Of course I do. It’s some cunt in a clown suit.’ Sometime later, Bowie remembered, ‘That was a huge moment for me. Since David's passing I've spent a good amount of time learning more of his wonderful music he left for us to enjoy, and these KZitem performances we are fortunate to watch. I watched and read interviews and was a bit turned off by interviewers over his career who in some way inferred he does not have a 'real' job as 'we others do' or similar references. Each time somehow David insisted he was dedicated and worked for a living. He never had to justify himself to such comments but I'm glad he did. He worked for a living starting from the bottom working his entire career as an artist and was so great he climbed to the top of the mountain.

I was always a Bowie fan, and being a d.j. I thought I would probably get to meet him as I did many musicians, instead I met him in the oddest of settings, near my home, at a swimming hole in Woodstock. I noticed him the way I notice most attractive famlies. and we nodded, and smiled at one another. As the day wore on, He walked toward me, and as soon as he got close I realized who he was, by the eye color and the accent. "Excuse me, he said , but my family and I are moving, would you happen to know where I might get some boxes?". Well I guess you could try the liquor store, they always have a lot and usually give them away free". Ahh the liquour store, what a great idea"! he said I never would've thought of it". We talked a bit more ,_ ( about what we had in common, family, a love of music, me a d. j. with some backup singing, acting, me a few small parts in independent films, his including the 80 's film "The Hunger" , he was surprised and happy that I remembered it. After signing a tshirt for me, we all started packing our things up, and he said I hope to see you again, but something tells me I will hear from you in the future. I hope so I said, I' d like to make a film someday" " Well I belive you will, but in any event , you' re a star now". Thank you, that mean' s a lot coming from you. And it did just goes to show you we are all stars, and most important of all, David Bowie was a rarity, a star, an actor, a performer, musician, familyman, gentlemen, friend, and well I could go on and on, but I like to think he was and is of another world, one where he has returned to live ,still shining bright! Thank you David for a wonderful day, and all the wonderful art and music you have left behind. My family, my friends, and WKARMA RADIO will never forget you.. Your music will never cease to delight us all. I'm Maribeth, and I. hope you are all safe and warm, sorry weekends over, but I will try to keep the party going, heres David kicking off some great music, remember when there are no stars in the sky its cause we are all on the street! 😘

I'm from switzerland but I swear I'd go to any place on earth to see this legend. And now this dream is something that will never happen. But I keep my hope in music, that it will somehow find the good way again. I'm jealous of everyone who had the honor and joy to live/growup/being teenie during these awesome times between 60-90. I was scrolling through here reading comments and if it is any consolation, I am sorry you never had the chance to see Bowie in concert.I was so lucky to have seen him a dozen times from 1974 through 1983. Here's my story from the first show on the Diamond Dogs tour in Detroit Michigan: David Bowie - Cobo Arena, June 23rd,1974 - Diamond Dogs Tour. I borrowed my Mom's Instamatic, and had front row seats. This concert is what hooked me on photography !!! This was at Cobo Arena. June 23rd, 1974. This was my 9th concert that I had attended.There were about 6 or 8 of us and we had Tier B tickets. I was stoked. My Mom gave me her Instamatic to take to the show, as she knew how much I loved Bowie. I started wandering around and walked onto the main floor, with no one asking me any questions at all. I walked right past the usher at the end of the 1st section and strolled right up to the front of the stage. I was there for about 2 minutes looking around, and a guy to my left in the 1st row, was tapping the empty seat next to him and said, "Do you want to sit here"? I sat and asked if the seat was taken, and he told me that the seats were comp from a connection, his friend couldn't make it, and the seat was mine. The lights suddenly went out, he tapped my shoulder, slapped me five, and said "Welcome to the front row, enjoy the show". What a way to see my rock hero !!! And I had my Mom's Instamatic. Fabulous show ... excellent seats, a wonderful memory !!! Let me tell you, the experience of going to a Bowie concert was incredible. I feel so fortunate to have seen David Live !!!

+denrosz so just to be clear, that was your 9th Bowie concert or 9th concert in general? Great story by the way.

+timishere1925 Thanks !!! This was my 9th concert overall, and 1st Bowie concert. My older brother David, ( I am #2 of 8) brought home the Ziggy Stardust LP after hearing it from a friend. He then brought home Hunky Dory about a week later, and we got MWSTW a month later. I was 15 that Summer of 1972, and 17 when Diamond Dogs was released. I bought Aladdin Sane and Pin Ups when they were released in 1973, and I was so impressed with Bowie's music, his fashion, his artistry. Found a bootleg of the Ziggy Tour at a local record store, and was blown away with the live sound. My brother Daniel, who was14 months younger, we bought cool flared jeans to go along with our 4 inch clogs that we walked miles in. LOL My sister Diane,#4, always heard me playing Bowie, she 12 in the Summer of 1972, and she and I were talking this week about how Bowie was ingrained in our musical blood for so many years, and what a great loss it is.

+timishere1925 Were you ever able to see Bowie in concert?
@timishere1925

+denrosz No, it's one of my biggest regrets. I feel fortune to have something such as this on video, although I realize it doesn't begin to compare with seeing him live in concert. You're a very good story teller. I love hearing about the fashion, etc. You're really able to paint a picture with your words. Thank you again.

David Bowie was from another world!! Just look at this performance, he's having so much fun and is fully enjoying himself on stage. He was such a wonderful human being and it always showed in his live performances. (recommend you to watch the entire live by request performance) Bowie is by far my all-time favourite artist, throughout his long career he made so many amazing songs and touched many different genres. Besides, he had this amazing personality which made him, in my eyes, immortal.

Fantastic version of this song. Worth listening to multiple times -- you'll hear new things. Bowie's voice was right on, the backup singers were wonderful, and then there's that bass player. Easily one of my favorite bass performances of all time. And he wasn't even the regular bassist!
