Younger audiences who aren't familiar with Letterman won't appreciate his legendary style.... this interview went perfectly and so true his style. He made De Niro comfortable to be uncomfortable. Hoffman another legend. Miss these guys on the screen

I think they both know exactly who they worked with esp in re to Sleepers. Both actors despite their greatness have acted in more poor movies than great ones. Sleepers was one of their better ones.

Well, I was a bit offended for De Niro. Hoffman touted "Midnight Cowboy". If De Niro had told me that he was my waiter on the night that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, I sure would remember the story and tell it with respect. I'm Canadian and was 11 at the time and I've never ever forgotten the night that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated. Hoffman may have lost a friend with that one.

Funny interview. De Nero is a legend luv Dustin Hoffman in the Graduate. I actually won free tickets to see meet the fockers at city walk at Universal premiere. Saw Hoffman and Streisand in person that night I will never forget it. Thanks for posting.

It's obvious De Niro is a shy man, sensitive to his environment (which is what makes him such a good actor), it doesn't have anything to do with being a dick. Letterman is more the guy who likes to be funny/in charge. They are just different personalities.

Notice at the intro, Robert De Niro hesitated and looked back at Dustin Hoffman to offer the inside seat as a Thespian/humanitarian courtesy. Dustin Hoffman , immediately declined and politely hand gestured for Robert De Niro to take the inside seat. Closer to David Letterman as a acknowledging courtesy. While acknowledging the audiences applause, they both sat down together. Meaning they regard each other as equals, in the Entertainment Industry.
