Hello Regina, thank you so much for your SLPA videos! Your videos are very inspiring! I'm going back to school in Fall 2024 to become a SLPA and was wondering if you can make a video on how to succeed in college as a SLPA. What are your studying tips? How do you take notes as a SLPA student in college for your courses? Volunteering schedule/work schedule-how was this like? Can you explain what you did that helped you organize your studying time/work time/volunteering time/free time? Which school supplies really helped you when you didn't think they'd help you? How do you network with SLPAs in the area and/or clinics/schools? Thank you so much in advance, Regina! You and your family have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! ☺

Hi!!! I just stared watching your videos!!! I really love them!!! I'm on the path of becoming a Bilingual SLPA. Just wanted to ask if you want to work in a school do you need to have a bachelors or masters?

Well you’re very much needed! Yes, you can work in a school using your bachelors. I am working with only my bachelor’s currently! I work alongside two SLPA’s who also ONLY have their bachelors. But I’m in the state of FL, and FL requires you be enrolled in a masters program after your 2nd year as working as a bachelor’s level clinician - on the educational side (IEP’s). Your state may be the same! However the two other SLPA that I work with have their bachelors and work on the “medical side” so insurance and they don’t need to get their masters and can work as an SLPA for as long as they please! Hope that answers your questions 😁

I just found your page, and its great. I am interested in becoming a speech therapist so im very interested in the day to day process as a slpa as well as the education it took to get there so far. Im still confused on that, im an undergrad but not in a communication or speech disorder program

I just discovered your channel, and was wondering do you have any advice about becoming a SLPA.

So you can actually get a two year degree to become SLPA! My route was getting a bachelors in communication science disorders. I’m the state of FL I was then able to apply to the department of health and get my license. I worked at the elementary school before as an teachers assistant. Getting experience shadowing and observing really helped me make connections and know it was what I wanted to do! You can work with adults or kids, clinic or school - so observe an SLP to get an idea what you like. I wish you well on your journey and I have a video on my experience in more detail!
