Yet Surfridge remains a ghost town and LAX still hasn’t done anything over 40 years now

Don't buy property along a long, straight road between two busy roads. Don't buy property near an airport. Don't buy property near rivers unless it's above the hundred year flood level (even then, don't). Don't buy property near a chemical plant. Think about what the government or an accident might do to you and your property.

LAX shouldve used the old Surfridge land or the land along Westchester pkwy. There’s no reason for eminent domain to be used when they already own empty land that could be used.

Surfridge is on land that if treated properly, becomes an emergent coastal wetland.

LAX as far as an international Airport is a trash heap. By far the ugliest in the world considering how many flights and location. No excuse for it to be so bad at all .....

I used to fly there all the time even though I lived in SFV. It's so much easier going to Burbank. And you're right; LAX is repulsive as well was just a pain in the ass to get in and out of!

I've been wondering about this place. I've been parking here and it's so eerie how all the buildings seem to be abandoned, there is so much open land, homeless encampments, random houses, and so on. Never seen anything like it in the LA area.

Yes, home ownership is an illusion. You're really renting the land from the government, it's called property tax.

Yes, (to an extent) but you get compensated.....of course being forced to move sucks,......where I live there were 3 homes in the path of a rail....state gave each homeowner 1million dollars (houses were worth less) money cant replace memories, but no one walks away empty handed....

Why not doze LAX, move it out east of Bakersfield, and leave the folks alone? After all.....Change is inevitable, right?

If the neighborhood had stayed a great place to live, then it would be safe today from LAX. It's now a dump and LAX needs to expand. Easy to take. When you let your community go to heck, then anything can happen.
