yeah it seems like every time a technology gets mature and really working well it gets phased out for something that performs better but less reliable. I'd take a DCT over a CVT though because when a CVT goes bad you can't even really rebuild it.

So, let me get this right, instead of a nice manual transmission with one clutch, you have two clutches that are computer controlled. No problem, you're good to go! I foresee no issues in your future!!!
@alanjm1234
Жыл бұрын
You can buy the manual. But a lot of people want automatic transmissions. Dual clutch is like driving an auto, but they're about 10% more fuel efficient. Unfortunately Ford brought these to market before they were fully sorted. Even worse, Ford dealers have absolutely NFI how to fix these. Many problems like in this video can be fixed by removing clutch actuators and cleaning out the clutch dust with brake cleaner and some WD. 10 Minutes and zero dollars. But dealers and transmission shops charge thousands. Even a new actuator costs about $100 and takes a few minutes to replace.
@michaelszczys8316

Manual transmission is the most efficient, but nobody can drive them anymore, so the manufacturers have to make a manual trans that is operated by a robot. So just picture a robot like from the Jetsons in the passenger seat operating all the mechanics while Jane Jetson just steers it into the nearest tree.

The tool to turn it 14 times cost 20 bucks on Amazon all I did was spray break cleaner on mine while turning it 14 times and after doing that a few times I noticed it would unwind faster and faster and now it works better than ever. Didn’t even have to change the clutch actuator motor after all. I also cleaned out the inside of the shaft where the 14 ribbed Allen key went from any grime so the actuator would grab better and be less likely to slip and presto. Good as new. Even put some grease for better heat disbursement and less chances of chipping. Ended up only spending 30 bucks total and took me 30 mins to fix. I’ve seen some people use wd40 and breakcleaner together and even drilled holes in two places to get it all up in there and drain it too but I didn’t do all that though.

In my case though both of the shift forks are working beautifully. The moment I put the car in drive and touched the gas it triggers a P073f, U1013 and occasionally P0219. I swear to God if I ever meet the engineer who designed this abomination, I'm going to kick him in the 🍆. 🤬 I'm confused as to what direction to go next. The car even moves in D and R, though it moves/slips less in Reverse. No weird/abnormal noises, no clicking or thumping randomly. TCM or Clutch??? Grounds are cleaned. I just can't get it to go through the relearn process without freezing and timing out.

Swapped out the servos and problem stayed with A clutch. Dealer says it's a TCM problem ( I think they're right). So now waiting on a TCM. Hiram I think you are the best with a tranny. One channel says if I can do it you can. What a bunch of bullshit with these newer over engineered tranny they are making. For the DIY guy with these tranny you need so many special tools it's not even funny. That stick tranny that ford made is the stupid thing I have ever seen. You want a stick tranny you need a clutch pedal. You don't want to shift buy a automatic tranny period. Them motors that make the tranny shift don't have a seal to keep water from getting in there when you took them out. Ford should be sued big time for making this junk. They are not the only one making junk. I got a new 2020 chrysler pacifica van. Guess what the tranny filter is inside the tranny. To change it you need to take the tranny out and split it just to get to it. All a DIY can do is drop the pan and change the fluid at the best. Tranny should have a spin out filter like you do when you change the engine oil. This billet this and billet that can be really expensive. Sure if something is bad that cost about the same as a new part from the dealer is ok. But you can overdue this stuff to. Remember the 1940s dodge stick tranny that you could start going in any gear either first or second and even third with the clutch pedal? I think they called it the fluid drive tranny. At least I did. My dad had one and when he was done with it I drove it on the farm when I was like 10 years old.....lol. I could go on and on but this over engineered stuff needs to stop. There come a time when they go to far with this stuff. These 10 speed tranny that chevy and ford made together is going to be a mess and really be expensive to fix. They are already having problems with them. Sorry I rambled on so long. But these car and truck manufacturers are just over engineered this stuff and it's unnecessary IMO.

That's awesome, I'll check them out. Hope to see you guys at the next available seminar if possible. It was kind of disappointing not having one this year, hope next year it will resume as usual. Great products you guys have. I use a lot of them.

Is it expensive to get the clutch changed on one of these ?

Honestly budget for 2500$ I've heard the prices can vary depending on what exactly is found wrong with the trans/clutch

I need desperately to know where I can buy a tool to unlock the throw out bering. I have everything but that. You say no to Allen. What size torque driver?
@OtherDalfite

It's not a torx driver either. It isn't a torx socket head. It's a custom machined spline. Putting a torx in will strip it too.

Hey thank you for putting such helpful videos. I currently have this transmission issue. 15 ford focus. I recently removed the dct transmission to inspect the forks and clutch. And they looked fine. Now when I reinstalled everything it makes a horrible grinding noise when I shift the gears and Code P073F -Unable to engage gear 1 pops up. I did the adaptive learning for the drum and passed. I did the clutch learning and everything passed except for "clutch touch adaptive learning". If you or anyone have suggestions or tips, it will be greatly helpful

So shops aren’t able to order?
@EddieLeal
3 жыл бұрын
@@kristianmopsticc2887 They can order but may take a while before they can get them in? My car was in the shop for about 2 months. Best to have the dealerships order/install if your car is still covered under the Ford extended warranty. That way if something goes wrong they have to fix on their dime not yours.
