Fantastic!! I live in South Africa and quite regularly ride out to places with similar scenery such as the Cedarberg or Tanqua karoo.. favourite thing in this world is to get out into the middle of nowhere and take in the scenery and bliss that only motorcycles can give me.

Well done brother. That was partially a battle but well worth it. Nice focus. I know Bishop well for fishing ha but not the rest of it. Those massive rock fissures and squat high altitude trees, all very awesome! 👌🏼 - oh and thanks for circling back to read the sign about that salt mine project so amazing what men did 100 years ago in the middle of nowhere with nothing!

Ian, your videos just get better and better, and I can summarize this one in one word, and it applies to every aspect of this video: EPIC. One of the very best I have ever seen on KZitem, and I have seen lots of excellent ones. I have seen still photos of Death Valley but not much more than that, and you capture its remoteness, barrenness and vastness, along with its undeniable rugged beauty. Just so beautifully shot between the video and still photos (which were fantastic, by the way), and the information you shared along the way about its history was perfect. Simply an amazing say to spend 40 minutes, I am just blown away--thank you so much for bring this to us.

Interesting vid. Good job. Having lived on both sides of Death Valley I've ran most all those roads and passes. You are right, in a matter of minutes you can be almost alone or totally alone. Far away from the maddening crowd. Most people don't have any concept of what the real CA is like. Very beautiful. Each season brings about a whole new perspective of the lands. Enjoy the ride, the Tenere and life.

Believe it or not, a lady friend of mine in Prestwich, England just sent me this video link, as I tried to explain to her my three-day bike trip this past weekend. I, too, went to Death Valley. But not on a new Yamaha 700 Tenere with ABS, heated grips, navigation, computerized everything...but on a primitive, classic 1968 750cc Norton Commando. I told her "It was the Best of Rides...it was the Worst of Rides." Sat and Sun were sublime! California City to Randsburg, to Trona to Furnace Creek. Some dirt roads but not the miles you were on. Painter's Palette slot canyon was otherworldy! Explored Dante's View, then back to the Ranch at Furnace Creek. Monday awoke to gale-force winds and encountered a 20-mile blinding sandstorm that sandblasted the chrome, polished alloy and paint off the front-facing surfaces of my lovely Norton. After (barely) surviving it, the monsoon rains came, drenching me for 120 miles back to California City. I was verging on hypothermia as I was shaking like a paint mixer trying to dismount. Can't wait for next year! Your video production, narration, and knowledge of the area was brilliant! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Perhaps next time I'll opt for a newer bike...maybe only 50 years old! LOL

Beautiful area. I went through there back in 1988 when I was in the Navy. We drove from China Lake to Beatty, NV. I went through again 32 years later with my wife and kids on a 48 state trip. It had changed a little from what I remember. I remembered seeing cactus and old trucks, cars, animal skulls etc. None of that was there when I came through unless I just went the wrong way. I entered from Ridgecrest, CA and went to Stovepipe Wells. We made a stop in Ballarat and checked out the old ghost town. I would love to move to Ridgecrest or somewhere close in Nevada to be able to explore this area more. I love it there, my family thought I was crazy lol. Awesome video, thank you for taking the time to film these rides, excellent footage.

The "Air Hawk" seat cushion works great to prevent sore bum. The poor mans "Air Hawk" is an air pillow the is routinely used with a sleeping bag purchased at any sports store. I've tried many seat covers = sore bum after the first day and then each hour after that.

If you have stock suspension, dial in the REBOUND in all the way and then back it out to 7 clicks on the rear shock. and about 7-11 on the front forks. (Rebound is near the ground both front forks and rear shock) That should soften up that wash.

We used to drive to san Bernardino ( where I was almost shot by a money guard lady...long story, nothing sinister) and LA. Racetown 395 and Competitive edge motocross park. Great drive and went up to mammoth while on the way to Tonopah. I'm hoping the Tenere 700 world raid comes to Canada for 2023.

WOW, what a trip! This has to be some of the most breath-taking scenery in California. Experiencing it all on a bike, only seems to escalate the already profound & unique beauty of the landscape. Your video making skills are also truly masterful, and you did indeed "make it count," at least for me, that's for certain. You are truly blessed live in this part of your country and most especially, to have such unhindered access to such uncommon, but incredible riding opportunities. Thanks for sharing, & cheers from another Canadian fan.

Finally got a chance to watch this long edit. I’ve got like 5 minutes left but wanted to comment. This is absolutely epic Ian. Thank you for taking us along on this one. Your knowledge of the area and enthusiasm for the scenery and the terrain is both infectious and educational. The sound that T7 is making is absolutely magic, if sex were an exhaust note that’s what it would sound like. I definitely prefer this longer more in-depth and personal edit to the shorter one. Glad you made the best of the trip and decided to put this together, now go do a another one! Thank you and cheers from the east coast. Also, love that Thoreau quote at the end! 🤘🏻👍🏻🍻
