Juraj Valčuha is now the Music Director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. I wish him and the HSO all the BEST of times!! - from a Houstonian (well, Pasadena, TX, anyway - adjoining the East side of Houston) and former hornist with the HSO. I am VERY excited for this new era of the HSO. Juraj is not new to the HSO. He is well 'vetted' and well LOVED by the orchestra, the management and the patrons. Good times!!!!!

really appreciated your comment! - from one Houstonian to another! I'm looking forward to the HSO's performance of La Mer in February.

It is SO wonderful to see how relaxed, how confident, how connected these awesome musicians are, while performing this magnificent work. Serious credit is warranted to these musicians AND to this awesome conductor. A beautiful synergy.

Excellent !!!! I liked the slower tempi, as a " slower flow of Time is necessary to permit the MYSTERIOUS MAGIC of Nature to "RECREATE ITSELF" IN SOUND !!!!

13:30 Here we see a thing that is beautiful!!! The Principal trumpet plays a delicate solo passage BEAUTIFULLY. Well, of course! That IS a beautiful thing, but... It's what the Second trumpet does (and gently, subtley) immediately afterwards. The 2nd pats his leg. Why? Of course, to acknowledge the beautiful execution of the solo by the Principal. It is an amazing, scintillating, exstatic, intense, wholly engrossing thing to perform in these world-class ensembles. The leg pat is part of it!!!

Isn't it just such a predictable travesty of the exponentially increasing ignorance of the human race, as a whole? Still, there are those of us listening who do get it. Debussy, Juraj Valčuha and these wonderful musical artists get it, also.

I wish the control room kept the cameras much longer on the whole ensemble! All this clever - (and often very un-clever) - changing distracts and is not the experience the audience enjoys and is supposed to enjoy.
