49:54 It's crazy to me that in the same breath you can say"Are we really going to throw out the entire story" over this? And then say the church is at fault for not taking these questions seriously and trying to provide answers. Earlier the two things you lead with for responding to someone with a question about the morality of God were to the effect of Is it really that big a deal you'd leave Christianity over it? and If I give you an answer will that change your mind? You eventually got into talking about one of these moral issues and your opinion on what is moral, but how can you not see that you're part of the problem by leading with these dismissive responses. Maybe they're appropriate if you're dealing with internet trolls, but in a discussion with a real person face to face, if you bringing those things up first it's frankly kind of insulting. They're both complete non-answers to whatever concerns someone has raised, and call into question the asker's sincerity before they've demonstrated their insencerity. You seem to think that someone even seriously considering leaving their faith over moral issues in the bible is just insencere by default. I get that getting into apologetic responses for issues is a long process, but if you want people to stick around to listen to them, you need to show some sincerity of your own, that you take the question of the character of God seriously and want to answer the concern.

Appreciate your concern. The purpose of this was not to answer the objections individually, but to introduce the concept to people who don’t know what it is. At some future time, as stated in the video, by the way, we will discuss the objections. But we have roughly 90 minutes to cover all this stuff, and that was not the focus here.

Some folks just love to hear themselves talk. Saying the same stuff talked about for centuries and in the end, all these little groups of "followers" can't come to a consensus about what what this ancient anthology means because they twist it to say what they want. Ironic that there is the cartoon music that randomly shows up...is this to see if anyone really is listening to this Acme Co. sermon ? Also the arrogant projection spoken about what other people think, "..they don't know...", "..they are intellectually dishonest...", "..shysters..." Wow!! Using the parables and examples of the person, whose name people use to call themselves and look to for instruction, doesn't even come close to what is being presented as (giggle) teaching(!?!) This presentation is an example of why people are leaving, people are "deconstructing". If humanity survives long enough, this "worship" will be looked at in the same way the druids, shaman, psychics, etc. of the past are regarded...just with a different costume for the era.

It took me awhile to be able to have a rational response to your comment because it’s so far wrong on so many levels. I used deconstructionists to define the term, then stuck with their definition. The reason many of these people are ‘shysters’ is because of what I said in the video, that I’m pretty sure you did not watch all the way through. If you did, and you completely ignored the last twenty minutes or so, then I’m not sure what to tell you. The reason that Deconstructionists are shysters is because they don’t deconstruct anything other than Christianity, and, in fact, teach people to make unexamined presuppositions prior to their deconstruction. If you have been following our content for any amount of time, you will understand that we admit our presuppositions outright and I would encourage you and anyone else to do the same. I do not disagree that the Church has failed in many ways in American culture, and I do not mince words in calling them out. However, you are just wrong to say that I am being arrogant in explaining the thought process behind people who teach others to deconstruct. Not only have I read many of those people, I have also actively engaged with them in informal debates on a regular basis. So, with all due respect, if you’re not going to engage with my critique of deconstructionism and ignore the main points I made, why bother engaging here at all?
