I remember when a “friend” made fun of a girl with her huge afro in class, while hers was thin and incredibly flat. It was real jealousy. Called it a “lion’s mane”. Manes are beautiful and they stand out the bigger and fluffier they are. So she really lost me with that. I love our manes.

Before putting the deep condition is my hair type and since I was a child I never knew how to take care of my hair properly and I really hated my hair. I still hate it. So sophomore year of highschool I relaxed it and now I’m a freshman in college. It is still relaxed. I say my hair is pretty healthy for relaxed hair but I know I can’t have this style forever. I just love how easy straight hair is to deal with and it makes me want to cry knowing i will have to go back to my natural hair someday. This video really helped though thank you. Maybe I’ll know my actual curl pattern

Ladies I’m only gonna say this once I loveeeee Hannah but she is NOT a hair guru. Please if you want to know more about your actual hair texture I advice you watching other natural hairstylist. Hannah does not have 3c-4a it’s stuff like this that gets little girls confused everywhere because the lack of better knowledge. I am black with predominantly 4a-4b hair and some 3c my hair is much looser then hers and my hair actually has a curl and coil pattern. If you look at her hair dry and wet it’s obvious that she has predominantly 4b-4c hair. Mostly 4b. She is just like my friend that’s also mixed. She has Afro-kinky coily hair. If you see her ends you see that she has definitely a Z shape and not S. I’m not mad or anything it’s just lack of representation on peoples actual hair types. If you don’t know your hair type please do some research it took me 22 years of being natural to finally understand and fully maintain my hair. Lastly 2a-2c is wavy 3a-3c is curly and 4a-4c is coily.

Hair typing using the 1-4 scale is outdated and has now become a buzzword for KZitem to get views. And I’ve noticed that people have come to create unrealistic expectations or seeking validation based off of this system. Knowing your curl pattern is like knowing how much melanin is in your skin: it just shows how your skin looks, it doesn’t inform what face wash you should use. If you really want to understand your hair, figure out your: - Density - Hair strand thickness - Porosity - How all of these variables interact with the water in your household (soft or hard water) and the climate that you live in The curl pattern of ones hair is like the least informative aspect of your hair. It doesn’t give you a full picture on how the hair *functions* and best practices for caring and maintaining ones hair.
@1CourtneyMichelle

She definitely has 3c/4a it’s just on the frizzier side and not silky . My hair behaves the same way as hers. When it’s wet it’s very flat and curly and when it dries, it dries into an afro
