Saw Delbert when he was touring with this album. The night before, he was leaving a gig and his foot slipped off the step of his bus. He broke a bone in his right foot. He was treated at a local hospital but would not allow a cast to be put on. He asked for a walking boot and enough pain killers to let him get back home. However, he still made his next date ( where I saw him ) because he was doing a benefit show. He ran through a full show seated on a stool and sweating bullets. That was on the back side of a hay field in Chunky, Miss., on a makeshift stage.

I have that version of the song on my old iPod and that iPod is connected to my old Bose speaker. I bring it into the bathroom and while I’m in the shower I play that song about ten times in a row (I have my iPod set to repeat one) so the song just keeps repeating. While I’m showering I try to sing along with Delbert, which is virtually impossible because by the second time around I’ve lost half my voice trying to sing that high trying match him note for note and scream for scream! Can’t be done! But it’s one of the greatest performances ever done!! Love Delbert’s music!!

It's also a good memory because Mike Archenhold, (1950-1999) one of the original camera operators on "Austin City Limits", ran camera 3 (opposite me on Cam. 1) on this show and we are workin' it.
