I was thinking all the time of an embryo to understand this process from the virtual to the actual. In his later works, Deleuze also talks about the body without organs, like an embryo, pure potentiality. The organs began to appear when the embryo folds, and then an inside and an outside appear, the endoderm and the exoderm, a layer of cells around a hollow space. Deleuze uses the metaphor of the world as an egg, and how individuation and differenciation takes place from cell to organs. He is interested in that process. In fact, I have read that one of the sources that Deleuze draws inspiration from is Dalcq's work: The Egg and its Organizing Dynamism (1941). An embryologist.

I think this helps us if our objective is to elucidate how Dalcq's theory serves as a tool to address Deleuzian ontology: "The egg has a field of individuation, but various fields of individuation coexist in it, which correspond to each organ and each member, and which form systems of reciprocal determination and regulation. Every act of individuation consists of the integration of dissonant elements in an act of coupling that constantly ensures their internal resonance. It can be said at this point that every act of individuation causes "differentiation".

Is that quote from Dalcq? How interesting. Sounds like it could have come right out of _D&R,_ doesn't it.

@@absurdbeing2219 It is not a literal quote but that is how I have summarized the article on Dalcq and Deleuze. The article is from two Spanish scholars. I think it is a good article to clarify the ideas that Deleuze wants to convey. Dalcq emphasizes the role that the intensive movement of individuation plays in the determination of the parts of the embryo. Deleuze, of course, applies these concepts to his ontology. The process of how the multiple virtual structure of the Idea is actualized in concrete reality.

@@absurdbeing2219The article is short, just a sketch of what it could become, but very interesting and suggestive. And yes, the style is truly reminiscent of Deleuze.
