Thanks for posting the video. Did you notice if the arbor bearings were shouldered on the inner race?

If I remember there is a shoulder on each side of the arbor casting that the bearings are pressed to. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Next time instead of PB Blaster may I suggest some automatic transmission fluid mixed 50/50 with acetone? It beats all I've ever seen for penetration and compared to the spray stuff in cans it's dirt cheap too.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've heard of that before but haven't tried it. Will give it a whirl on my next project - restoring an old Skagit Iron Works 3 drum logging hoist from the late 40s. I'll likely need gallons of it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great job on the restoration. I just bought an old Rockwell and I’m beginning the restoration process. What did you use to cut and shape the sheet metal base that you used.

Glad you enjoyed the video. It was a fun project. I cut/shaped that piece of sheet metal with an angle grinder with a diamond cutter blade. It wasn't perfect but fit fine and will never be seen. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great job! I have a question about that shaft removal from the motor bracket at the beginning of this video. Which way did you push it form? You "mushroomed" the long end, but it seems that it would be easier to push it from the other side, no? Another question, I was studying the parts diagram and it shows that there is supposed to be a "bearing loading spring" on that shaft between the motor bracket and the arbor bracket. But I did not see one when I pulled the arbor bracket off. Did you have one in there? Thanks!

The shaft was frozen to the motor bracket and there and there wasn't enough sticking out to hit it good. So took the arbor bracket off and struck it from the long end. I then had to grind the mushroom off to get it all the way out. If I'd had a press probably wouldn't have to go through that. As for the bearing loading springs. Yes there are two that go between the arbor and motor brackets. I had a bit of trouble getting them back in as there very little clearance. I put a socket that was a bit smaller than the shaft to hold them in place and then put the shaft in. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks! Actually right after I posted, I went ahead and tried removing it and it actually came out easily! I’ve been having great luck with my machine as all my roll pins and shafts popped out with little trouble!

What wrench do you use to remove the “spanner nut” or “bearing closure nut”? Not sure which it’s called... the nut with the two slots in it. Thanks!

I believe I just used a 12" adjustable wrench. If I recall that nut was about 1 1/8". I had the whole arbor assembly out and tightened that nut while I had it in the vise. Hope that helps.

I’m having the exact same issue with my Delta Unisaw that I purchased for $300.00 on OferUp. The motor bracket is completely frozen up and will not move up or down. Please tell me that you have video of you getting the shaft out of the trunnion and motor bracket.

If I took a video of getting the shaft out of the arbor yoke it would have been looonng and boring. You'll need to get the arbor yoke out of the saw. Then get a few cans of PB Blaster and then for the next several days keep the shaft wet with PB Blaster. After a few days (hopefully sooner) try moving it - if you get a little wiggle - you're on the way to freedom. If you need to use a little "persuasion" (i.e. a hammer) use a brass hammer or drift. I didn't and mushroomed the end a bit and had to grind it off. Good luck. Keep me posted. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@elwellboy yes sir you are correct. I just went out and bought a two pound brass hammer last night and it did the trick.
