Thank you for this maestro. I envy this student as I myself have not been fortunate to have a one to one teacher.

I could be wrong here but I think that's the general goal of a teacher.

This etude can be viewed as an example of the composer's neo-Baroque style (stemming form his admiration of J.S. Bach). In the Baroque period the bass line (aka 'fondamento') was second in importance only to the top line (melody) but in a texture of arpeggios the melodic interest can be varied by emphasising various notes within the chords. However, the bass line - important in the context of harmony - must be fairly prominent (e.g. Segovia's recording).

This has forever been a bugbear of an etude for me. I can play it but it is never something to take lightly and gives both hands a great workout. Fantastic for developing R/L hand co-ordination. Too often the left hand is backgrounded with the emphasis on the RH arpeggio. Great lesson, Mr. Azabagic

I have been working on this etude ever since I started playing classical guitar back in the early 1980s. Still have trouble with it....

That means you have developed bad habits and like John Williams said that if u keep on repeating it over and over and over hoping it will get better one day all you are doing is learning it to play badly over and over again

Very cool, I just started learning this a week ago and I'm around the same level as the student, so it was exciting to hear where he was having difficulties are almost the exact same places I'm having difficulties. Those quick slurs are rough! I live in a somewhat remote area where there is little access to CG teachers, so it's edifying to hear that I am approaching the issues the "right" way. And then I see the comments of people learning this as their first piece... crumble.. heheheh

+FidelKastrat LOL. I think the part that they practise like 15 mins is a little harder ^^ Btw you can use your right hand index to play the harmonics if your pinky cant stretch that far. It sounds way nicer too in my opinion! :)

Seems like the student isn’t even listening or paying any attention. Stop playing for 5 seconds and listen to what he’s trying to teach you for heavens sake. 🙄

I thought the same. The teacher is trying to demonstrate and he not only doesn’t listen but plays over him. The teacher should really not allow that. I can’t imagine doing that as a student.
