Dennis God bless you for your goodness and this song. Im 65 years old, brought up Catholic, did the altar boy thing and lots more, I have always believed, but 25 years ago I was in my study one afternoon busy with something and I had Styx Greatest Hits on the cd player and this song came up. Something made me listen carefully to it and it shook me to the core. I thought “what the heck here this man is imploring God to help him keep the faith and I take so much for granted” well the tears started to roll and I felt so ashamed. It heralded a big change in my life and how I see God. This song has become my prayer, my mantra, my inspiration and I have listened to it hundreds of times. Its such a comfort, I can listen over and over and never tire of it. I still get a lump in the throat every time I hear it. Thank you for writing it you have no idea how it has saved me in dark times. God bless you

Agree! You are Styx, always. You were the heart that was in it! The DEEPER PERSON in the Band. Everyone felt that too. Singing from a deeper place, longing for "the music" to be more then just words, and notes. You sing from place, wrote from the place, always honoring your beloved wife. Saw you in Cincinnati in Late '90's. We were right near left of third row, up front. You pointed straight at my husband (deceased in 2005), and sang words about to become true for him. Shortly after, it was revealed an evil in his life, then passed. That night, you were singing on que from above, that's for sure. He had that chance to rethink his path for sure. He even mentioned the power, your words, you pointing right at him, just unreal. I will NEVER forget it. God Bless You Dennis Ur heart just moves people, truly

Yes in the original key, that's mind blowing. Most great singers who are around and older tune down one step, it doesn't matter if you do or don't as far as quality but the older you get the harder is is to hit the high notes and/or to stay on pitch. That makes his performances here all the more unbelievable.

1 John 2:15-17 New Living Translation 15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. James 4:4 New Living Translation 4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God." Man.... It frustrates me that you are not still signing for Styx. I may only be 43 years old, but I am a 60s, 70s, and 80's music soul, and seeing you do this at your age.... I am surely captivated and wow'ed by it. You still have so much power behind your voice. So awesome! I was once in a band. We had our own studio and made our own music. But I left it all behind me to concentrate on marriage and family. I have since dabbled on the keyboard. I can't read sheet music because I learn by ear and never had any formal music teachings. But man oh man, what I would give to have you play on my keyboard and sing "Lady" to my wife, and have you sign my board, get a picture with you, etc. I'd love to hear stories of your adventures on the road. What a man... What a voice...

Dear, Dennis .... this song got me through the toughest time in my life when my oldest son passes Sept 25 2011 my life was just turned out of control and i lost everything my son was my best friend in this crazy world and i was lucky enough to have him for 26 years ... needless to say I had lost faith in God...because I think that the most common thing I would pray for was for the safety of my children 3 of whome i raised by myself for many years... the thing is I lost completely my faith and i do believe that by losing faith then trying to find it again was a almost impossible task i think it would have been so much easier if I had no faith then tried to search it out then to feel that you have unbreakable faith and it get broken ... this song played a very important role in truly saving my life and helping me get up and out and praying to my God please show me the way dear God .. where do I go from here how could you have let this happened to my son why God why him ... then I would listen over and over and pray more and more God show me the way ...and he did in his time not mine ... I just want you to know what this song meant to me for all of these years and i did not know how to reach you till this and your last video that you sang best of times in ... your music has done this for many people I am sure ... but I wanted you to know that this song got me up and made me search out what I was slowing dying without and did not care for a good while ... I will always hold this song and you in a very special place in my heart for the rest of my life .... I do hope you get to read this comment ... in a big way this song truly did save my life and i am forever greatful to you .. thank you many blessings Wesley Smith

Dennis that was so beautiful as ever you only could have sung it. I'm a Canadian and the last "Gathering" my wife and I attended was the Styx concert in Edmonton Alberta last year. I'm 58, a truck driver for 32 years.......been such a fan of you forever my friend since the 70's. Just the other day, a friend and colleague (Age 32) stopped in for supper and he helped me lift my outdoor shed out of the frozen base it was in, so of course Val made supper and we had a few beers and played crib after (5 bucks a round lol). So Val decided to play some old CD's she found in the shed in a plastic tote that we've been packing around since who knows when and one was a recording of Styx songs.....yours bud.....and my friend asks me who is this? I laughed and of course named the song and was singing along word for for word......but I sat back and realized......he absolutely loved it. He had never actually listened to it the way I have. It was an emotional moment for me. It sent me way back on an epic journey with Styx legendary songs....and my life. My friend......I can't ever thank you so much. You are amazing. Thank you Please send my best wishes to Chuck. Ken

When I was 10 (around '82), I heard Best of Times play in our modest little home. My mom used to crank up the volume to our Sears home stereo. To see you, sing and play the piano, is an honor, Mr. DeYoung. Thank you for gracing us with your passion and humility for music and mankind. Sending our love and thanks from San Antonio. 🎼🎶🎵🤘🤘

“Come Sail Away” is the most meaningful song of Styx. That was a song playing as I was driving to Atlanta May 1997 for my new job in radio research, Arbitron Radio Ratings. I was 29, and I was so excited to spread my wings and tackle young adulthood on my own. This song literally started playing just as the Atlanta skyline came into focus on the horizon. It for me attributed to me only (no couple).... I just love it. It was playing on 96Rock.... and then many years later I worked there!!!!!! Exciting days. Grew up with Styx!!!!! I’m 52 now with a 12 and 10-year old (late bloomer), and they love your music. Keeping it goin’. Such great melodies!

We are not God's counselor or his adviser. We do not speak for God. We do not have the authority to say where or what any of us will be or what we will be doing. Eternity will not be about any of us or what we did. It will all be about Jesus Christ who died on a cross to save us from our sins. We all deserve hell and then the lake of fire that burns with sulfur and fire on judgement day.

@@JohnSmith-uy7sv We all deserve hell, but thankfully as you said, loved so much that God sent his son to grant us forgiveness and everlasting life! Rejoice in the Lord and do all things as service unto the Lord, be it with gift of voice, instrument, painter’s brush, or writer’s pen. I am no scholar, just in awe of God’s beauty, creations, and gifts of talent and creativity. I may be wrong, but seems God made these things for eternity, for his eternal glory, not just for our brief moments on Earth. Seems we will always learn and be in awe of God, but certainly will NOT complain if I am wrong ;o)

Thirty years ago, I was a DJ in Columbia, Missouri. In our rotation was “Show Me The Way.” We played the version peppered with news clips from Desert Storm. When I hear this song, it takes me back to another time of fear and uncertainty. But the chords and lyrics give me comfort because I know that like it did then, our faith will get us through this. Thanks, Dennis.

The most amazing, theatrical voice in rock n roll. No one can replace him. One of my greatest memories was Styx with Dennis singing. I've seen them since, and it's not the same. There's only 1 Dennis DeYoung. God bless you sir, and thank you for many, many, years of pleasure and inspiration. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Back in the late 70's early 80's I didn't know your name or group. But I remember as a young black male falling asleep with my radio playing listening to "Lady". Every young crush I had was treasured through that song. Now, fifty years later I am reacquainted with a voice that was my friend so long ago. And yes, it did help. God bless you sir.

DENNIS!!!! I'm crying again! You were such a huge force of nature for me in the 80s. "Mr. Roboto" changed my life and I knew my life would be dedicated to music. The Styx back catalog started plating and then your solo work. Each song has a deep memory and a heart wrenching or heart warming time... but all my life. Thank you for your voice, songwriting and heart. I love you, Dennis🙏💜🎹
