I just need to know how Osiris never came across information about Neomuna while he and his "echoes" were traversing the Vex simulation engines... like, how would this society not factor into Vex simulations? The vex had contact with the Neomuni before, so why is it that our resident Vex know-it-all had to find out about the city through visions left behind by Savathun's possession and not through the Vex networks themselves?

Why would the Vex keep a record of the existence of every non vex civilisation they encounter in every part of their network? The vex don't care. Sure, there'll be references to Neomuna in the Neomuna adjacent parts of the Vex network, but why would Panoptes care? The infinite forest didn't contain info on the rest of the universe, just the stuff that Panoptes actually wanted. The vex aren't actually a universal hive mind like a lot of people think. One Vex finding out about something doesn't instantaneously propagate that knowledge to every other vex in the universe. The reason they're so similar and often *seem* like a hive mind is that they're all identical, but information one vex has is still only in the posession of that one vex.

My best bet is that the technology that neomuna is built upon (that being the superior SIVA nanites) paired with the paracausality of the cloudark and the veil make it simply impossible for the Vex to actually simulate since we know they struggle with such simulations. As for how no traces of the Veil were discovered despite us being able to locate the Black Heart, the only ones interested in such a thing are the Sol Divisive, and they reside exclusively within the black garden, outside of Osiris' reach from within the Infinite Forest and we were able to locate the Black Heart because we were practically led to it as it was the main factor keeping the Traveler from healing itself.

This could be an amazing pilot episode for a Destiny show. Start with Stargazer erasing any evidence of Neptune's existence with enemies trying to beat down the door. Then spend the episode backtracking through Stargazer's arrival and attempt to communicate peace with the Warlords. The seeds of the Iron Lords could be spotlighted as well. Then by episode 2 there is no further mention of Stargazer and the show spends the rest of season 1 dealing with Saladin, Efrideet, Shaxx, and the Drifter. The end of season 1 can show the official start of recruiting the Iron Lords. Therefore the season went from showing obvious need for order in the Pilot to what order actually took root by the end of the season.

After taking time to reflect on Neomuna’s situation from their point of view, I sympathize with them, and don’t blame them for doing what they did in hiding while covering their tracks. But, I can of at least eight individuals of the Coalition that would have reason to rather judge Neomuna for not coming to Earth and Sol’s aid sooner, while also abandoning Earth: Empress Caital, Ana and Elizabeth Bray, Suraya Hawthorne, Devrim Kay, Amanda Holiday, Lord Saladin, and Ada-1 of the Black Armory. Caital has already expressed as much that Earth wouldn’t want less than Neomuna’s sympathies, Ana and Elizabeth would have a list of reasons how Neomuna’s resources and technology would’ve aided them in rebuilding after the Dark Age and would aid Rasputin. Elizabeth would’ve expressed Neomuna’s existence would’ve been good to know the last countless loops she’d been through. Suraya would’ve expressed even she once had her reservations for how Guardians seemed to once value the Traveler over the City’s citizens, but Neomuna has faults too. Devrim would express how the Guardians have changed, and would agree with Suraya’s points. Amanda would point out that their tech would’ve been useful in the Red War, and that late allies are better than none, but emphasize the Last City would’ve lost less, and less people. Lord Saladin would be pretty upset in Neomuna, understanding how the Warlord’s brutality would want to make the Neomuni stay away, but that they should be great full towards the Iron Lords, and would clearly describe what real Warlords were like, and that the Iron Lords and today’s Guardians are not the same. He’d probably view Neomuna as cowards for a short time for not helping Earth when we needed it sooner. Ada-1 would be pretty upset that Neomuna essentially abandoned humanity, as she, the Black Armory founders, and others, had survived in bunkers until Warlords came for them. The Warlords of the Dark Age were a dark part of the Guardians’ and City’s history, but Neomuna isn’t perfect either.

This is a prime example of just how bad this new narrative team is. They had to answer the plot hole (that this garbage storyline created) of who deleted the records of Neomuna, and they gave us this dumpster fire. When Warmind literally gave us lore where Elsie deleted tons of files (from CB and Rasputin) before leaving Mars, and lore of her connections/collaborations with Ishtar prior to her disappearing. A much better storyline, of course. Plus with the lore from the Lightfall Collectors Edition showing how similar it is when a light bearer is risen (that they don't remember their past) that Elsie doesn't remember her past either whenever she ends up shifting to the next alternate timeline. This would still give tons of potential storylines to use going forward, without sounding like the 3rd grade level of writing we're all having to deal with now.

Alternatively, perhaps the existence of the Warlords and their first contact with the Neptunians ultimately saved them and us. Had we known of the existence of Neomuna way back then, access to that knowledge would have been vulnerable to our ultimate enemy as well. Neptune, and Neomuna together, would have certainly been targeted directly by the Witness and his Pyramids much earlier than we could possibly have been prepared for. In a strange sense, the Warlords inadvertently pushed Neomuna away from us and into hiding. Protected by a shield no guardian could do better. Anonymity.

While I am not as upset about the campaign as others. I mean, Bungie has perfected the art of time-gating story through seasonal activities, so it doesn't surprise me that they might time-gate campaign stories throughout the year. Why would someone buy the deluxe Final Shape expansion if the story is resolved in the campaign expansion in the first month. However, there are some glaring plot holes that are sticking in my craw about the story and Byf, my friend, you have hit on some of it. Yes, the Neomuni were right to abandon us at the beginning of the collapse. However, centuries have passed since the collapse onto the time of the Warlords and now the Guardians. For them not to try again, even out of curiosity, is out of character for humanity. Also, the Vex found Neomuna. Cloudstriders have had to fight off Vex incursions long before we landed on Neomuna. The Vex network is interconnected. So you are telling me, that Osiris, the one guardian who has traversed through multiple Vex simulations and knows more about the Vex than any one, didn't have any hint of something on Neptune before Savathun's mind eff? That is the one thing that I find very hard to fathom. The Vex functions are a hive mind, so if they were on Neomuna for even just a decade before Lightfall, Osiris should have had some sort of a hint due to his experiences. Finally, why is it only Ciaitl is the only one upset about Neomuna's abandonment of Earth? It's a shame the factions are gone, because, they would have added a great storytelling layer as the best archetypes to express resentment at Neomuna for abandoning earth. I could hear all three faction leaders expressing how humanity doesn't need kids who'd rather spend time in the Thrilladome instead of helping humanity. Neomuna reminds me of the US during WWII, before Pearl Harbor, "Europe's wars are Europe's problems." Just substitute Europe with Earth or the Last City. They knew something of our struggles. I mean, Rohan said in our initial meeting, that he knew what was at stake better than we did. Either Neomuna knew something of the oncoming darkness and just wanted to be isolationists, or they did not really comprehend the S-Storm that Calus and the Witness was about to reign down on them and were just naive about the whole situation. Either way, it's a bad look. These are the parts of the Campaign that have me peeved. Not the brevity or the other loose ends because I was actually expecting time gated story telling from the get go, it's why I bought the deluxe edition to experience a years worth of storytelling rather than just a week-long campaign quest.

I thought when we were going through the Spire of the Watcher, that part of the submind that is in the Hierarchy of Needs (the rest of which went to Neomuna), was who had re-written Rasputin's Record to hide the Nephele Stronghold from him?
@Mechimmortal
Жыл бұрын
How tf is Rasputin so accessible by strangers? A stargazer can just fly back to earth and delete stuff? How does Eramis access Rasputin, and how does she understand man made code enough to control warsats? Lastly, how has Neomuna never been shown to anyone traveling through timelines and simulations? And the Witness can't detect a powerful presence like the Veil coming from Neptune while it's practically the power generator for the whole city?

Nah. I don't like this reason. I much prefered the implication that Savathûn had something to do with neomunas secrecy. The way that saint spoke about Osiris telling him of his vision made it seem like she was the one responsible. Like it was her secret to be kept. I guess it was only the veil. It still is a big secret, but I guess I expected her to do a little more to ensure the veil remained hidden, maybe by erasing the warmind data, or casting an illusion on Neomuna. It would explain why the hidden and Caiatls fleet never found it
@S3Cs4uN8

Well the Hidden not finding Neomuna is pretty easy to explain, given they answer to Ikora and her general relationship with Osiris they likely made a token effort at most to investigate the planet before they fucked off back to the Throne World to do nothing useful.

The problem is the fact that the traveler earse all we were in favor of something else. That the only problem. Plus I love fact the darkness skipped messing Neptune in favor of earth. Next thing we going to learn the collapse never touch Pluto.

So perhaps someone can help out with this. It feels like there's only been a handful of cloudstriders over the years, but if there's been around 500 years since the collapse and if each cloudstrider only loves for 10 years should there have been over 50 of them by now? Especially if there were already cloudstriders during the time of the warlords which puts their creation not that long after the collapse?

@@noahp6886 I don't think we know exactly but the collapse was something like 600 years ago and the city age started like 200 years ago and d1 starts a few more years than irl, like 12. Neptune is a gas giant though. There isnt really much of a surface to build a city on. Also, if there were a civilization there we'd be able to detect its existence today in 2023. Was hoping the veil was like an actual veil that kept them hidden with space magic or something.

Still doesn't make sense. Like why were their data on us like 300 years out of date? Were they aware the the sun almost went supernova against the cabal? Did they notice the immense waves of light from the traveler and still didn't go on scouting missions? Did they still not scout what was going on when half the planets vanished? If they thought of guardians as kids with nukes you would thing they would check what we were doing fairly often.
