I just got back from a trip earlier. I had a lot of fun! DTW is the best! If you remember my old channel. It got terminated from some reason. Now I’m back!! Here is a little story. I was at baggage claim and it was crazy!! We were on 6 and got switch to 8. It had a glitch and the carousel wasn’t spinning. After we got our bags my brother was in town for the Motor City Comic Con. (Since I live in suburban Detroit) My dad’s bag spot accidentally taken from some dude. And it was crazy. After a long wait I was tired and ached my head. I was so bored that I was looking outside. And decided to sit with my suitcase Silvia. (That’s what I named her) we had a trip home wonderful and got our bag back. The highlight of the airport is the signs, elevators, escalators, icons and arrows! I was born to fly! (I was traveling at DTW since I was 6 months old)

Cool vid, I've got a flight from London to Detroit with a layover 2hr 15 mins then Detroit to Las Vegas(both with delta airlines).My first time doing a connecting flight is that enough time and will I have to go through security/ customs also will I have to re claim luggage sorry for all the questions many thanks.👍
@scottman895
2 жыл бұрын
That should be enough time. It's hard to say how long the line for customs will be, but when I flew back into Detroit last month (ironically enough from London), the line did not take too long. After going through immigration, you will need to claim all checked luggage and then re-check it to your final destination and then go through security again. The signs fortunately are easy to follow, and they will help navigate to where you need to go. Have a great flight!

Nice video man, I am going to visit Michigan, coming from New England. I am pretty nervous as it's my first time travelling alone and I was wondering if you would be able to offer me any tips regarding precautions and safety measures to make sure my experience going on the flight goes smoothly aside from the obvious stuff like "bring your ID". It's not even the flying part that gives me anxiety, it's just the possibility of getting lost, or not being able to board the flight in time. If you've ever been to MHT, and of course DTW and you know anything in particular with these airports I should prepare for, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
@scottman895
6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I haven't flown in or out of MHT, but I would always get to the airport at least 2 hours early to allow yourself plenty of time to check in (you can also check in online especially if you are flying the major airlines such as Delta) and to get through security. For getting through security, TSA's website provides good information on how to get through security as well as what you can and cannot bring on board. Signs are usually well-marked for where you need to locate your gate as well as where to go for arrivals or baggage claim. DTW will have directories throughout the concourses to help with navigation. There are also people at the airport who can help you find your way if you do get lost. For all the airports I have been to, the McNamara Terminal is pretty easy to navigate as the concourses are linear with the cool tunnel connecting them. If you happen to fly in or out of the North Terminal, that terminal is even easier as it is somewhat C-shaped and it has only one concourse. Long story short, as long as you allow yourself a lot of time, you should be just fine. You'll be an expert before you know it! Good luck with your trip, and enjoy Michigan!

I have a 40min layover from Montréal to Miami, will that be possible to make it in this airport?
@scottman895
3 жыл бұрын
It depends if you will be arriving in and departing from the same terminal. If your flight from Montreal is with Delta and your flight to Miami is also with Delta, a 40 minute layover should be plenty of time as long as your flight is not delayed. If you have to change terminals (if your arriving from Montreal via Air Canada and departing Detroit to Miami via Delta), that will not be enough time since going from the North Terminal (all flights not Delta, Air France, Aeromexico, and KLM go through the North Terminal) to McNamara Terminal (and vice-versa) require taking a shuttle and going through security again. Fortunately you will go through US customs in Montreal, so you will not have to worry about immigration in Detroit. I hope everything goes well!
@RHElevators

Avoid the elevators here unless you're going from the top level to the middle level or middle to top in which case using the escalator would be a huge inconvenience, making you go all the way down before going back up. Most if not all of the elevators in this terminal have at least one thing wrong with them, and I happened to witness an indicator glitch while riding one. All of them have visible wear as well. Stay away from them unless you have no choice or you know what you're doing.

Hey there, sir. Thank you for the informative video. We will be coming back into the USA from Paris into DTW next Spring (2019) via Delta Airlines. Hopefully, the international arrivals area is not all that far from the domestic connections. We do have a 5 hour window between flights so....that should be plenty of time to get through customs and then re-entry through security for the domestic portion of our second leg (back home to Orlando).
@scottman895
6 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. After you go through immigration and customs (and pick up your baggage if you checked any bags), you should be able to go up some escalators to the security checkpoints. I haven't done so myself as Detroit is usually my last stop, but I know that the international arrivals is a floor below the domestic arrivals which is two levels below the main security checkpoints where the domestic check-in counters are. After you get through security again, you will be in Concourse A. 5 hours should be plenty of time in between flights. Good luck with your travels!

@scottman895
6 жыл бұрын
You are welcome! Assuming that your flight from Vegas to Detroit isn't delayed, 40 minutes should be enough time as you will not have to go through security again. Even if you are taken to one of the ends of Concourse A, you can take the Express Tram to the first stop (near the entrance) and then go through the tunnel with all the lights to get to B and C. Once you get to the stop for the entrance, go the opposite direction of the terminal entrance/exit back toward the fountain. To the left of the fountain is the tunnel for Concourses B and C. After the tunnel, Concourse B is to the left and Concourse C is to the right. I hope everything goes well!
