Smokey just gave the best tribute to the ancestors I have ever heard. We must always remember those words. Our ancestors gave their all - blood, sweat, tears, and ultimately their lives so that we could go on. Please don't ever forget that. We owe them everything so please don't take whatever gains we have for granted. Don't ever give up the fight.

I was on a flight from Pittsburgh to LaGuardia NY in November of 2018. I had noticed a gentleman standing by the check in desk and after several times staring and thinking this man has very unusual eyes where have I seen them before. Well we boarded and I had the aisle seat second row on the right. Smokey had sat in the wrong seat so he to move he the window seat next to me. Before he sat down he said to me excuse me I think your in the wrong seat I said I don't think so what seat number do you have so he ended up by the window. Now again I am staring at this gentleman's eyes and thinking where have I seen this man before.,he was modestly dressed was wearing a tight fitting hat. Finally my curiosity got the best of me and I said to him where have I seen you before. He replied who do you think I am, I replied a little hesitantly Smokey Robinson to which he replied jokingly aw go on. He then said yes I am Smokey Robinson and your name is, to which I replied James. We had brief but very cordial conversation I not wanting to annoy him or impose on his space. Brief as it was it was long enough that there is nothing phony about William Smokey Robinson he is a humble and kind and as I told him leaving the plane a National treasure. Thanks for sharing this.. I missed this one.. You can see the love, respect, and gratitude that Ms. Ross has for Smokey in her eyes. As well as hear it in her voice. Luther sang the songs as someone who really loves them. He intreped them without yelling, screaming, over singing, doing multiple runs as opposed to lyrics. I always put him up there with Ms. Ross. Ms. Vaughn. Me. Armstrong. And a few others who can actually take a song and do it their way and not take it off course from the original. Perfection. And this clip makes me proud on so many levels. But fam wow that song smokey sung brought my black butt to tears. Thank you again

Hmmm... I would lay money that Smokes first wife Claudette, who found out about Diane and Smokes getting it in at the start of all those Motown review tours wouldn’t convey that particular brand of warmth that Diane does looolol. @@creolelady4096 There’s no way of sugar coating the fact that Diana was possessed and driven by the need and desire to succeed, and although her approach was sometimes a little er ‘off’ lol, she didn’t have time to play nice all the time. And despite certain individuals hurt feelings along the way one must give it up to her that she did it. She succeeded, despite everything. That’s one strong minded woman right there!! And in real life she is the sweetest, warmest person I have spent time with. Fascinating individual.

I never understand why by Diana Ross is criticized for sleeping with a married man. First of all he was separated and getting a divorce. Second of all, mary wilson had affairs with married men including Tom Jones duke Fakear Eddie Kendricks and flip wheels that I know of. All of them were married at the time. Lawrence Ballard slept with Otis Williams when he was married and one of the contours when he was married. Claudette Robinson did not care for the fact that smoking had a relationship with diana ross, but she also didn’t care for the relationship Smokey had with a dozen other women while he was married to her smoking with a dog who would just put it anywhere - don’t forget it. It takes two to tango, and if Claudette was all that, Smokey wouldn’t have had over a dozen mistresses.

I love so many good songs and singers but Luther simply was the master. The quality of the vocal cords are amazing. Just fantastic

Wow,, begs the question Will this new generation have LEGENDS? Mr Smokey Robinson a lyrical genius and a quiet storm, ms Diana Ross The Diva of Life and Electrifying Entertainer, Mr LUTHER VANDROSS as ms Ross introduced him THE MASTERFUL , his voice is unmatched and his ability to draw you in without being extra in fact without even trying...

They may have their own “legends” but they won’t be a patch on the legends that we have and they will be far and few between with the “cancelling” culture of today

WOW! What a performance. I was lucky to see Luther in concert 2 times and he was by far the greatest male vocalist I've witnessed live. I just wish he'd recorded a Smokey tribute album having heard this tribute medley. Smokey's acapella performance at the end was very moving- you really could've heard a pin drop. This is a masterclass in Talent and class
