That's why learning to do your own fretwork is something every guitarist should learn. A good level, crown, polish, and good fret edges can make a cheap guitar feel like a custom shop once you get good enough and there are some good tools to pretty much idiot-proof the process.

Sire guitars are insane quality for the price. In this case, the extra money with respect to previus models can be justified since only Seymour Duncan pickups may add 400€. Beyond that, if you want a grain top wood like that, you also pay the extra price. Gold style harwdware, is also extra price. Binding of wood, is also extra price. Fret abalone inlays are also extra price. If you have all these together with the neck heel and really nice rolled edge and satin from behind, and blocking tunners as other Sire guitars have, 1000€ is super cheap. This exact guitar could cost 4000€ just if you change the logo for Suhr and alike or a Luthier based guitar. I don't personally like these kind of super-strats, but the guitar worths the money 300%.
@intenzityd3181
11 күн бұрын
Suhr you're getting a plek stainless steel fret job, a lifetime warranty for the neck, and it's made by some of the best builders in the world, not a huge production line. They also keep their value, these don't. It's better compared to the premium AZ.

I wish i could get on with gloss laquered fretboards. I have mostly maple fretboard guitars, and the satin or oil based ones are great . But the high gloss ones just make my fingers stick to the board, just like gloss on the backs of necks. I just take some scotch brite and hit the neck and fretboard with it. On a side note though ive def noticed that some brands' clear gloss is way tackier than others.

I like the gold but not love it. I love the whole design. Especially the 12-14" Tom Anderson compound radius. This is the goldilock zone of free playing feel. I have a great TA HSS with the same neck but with a better slab, fretboard spec. My biggest downer is minor but to me cranked in my studio those PU's are not strat sounding, sorta metallicy. My favorite strat is stuffed with Fralin PU's Blues Specials with a SD Pearly Gates bridge. My TA strat has his PU's and sound almost as good. Both strats get the Trower 3D clean sound..... And if you need a kick load a PG bridge for ROCK! Biggest takeaway amazing neck geometries and manufacturing quality. The TA design is the most freeing, don't have to look at your neck, just shred design out there. The new SIRE borrows from that at half less the cost of a TA.

If the hardcase is good that elevates over most of the indonesian stuff from brands. You're paying much closer to £2k for hard case from others although they're usually built in Japan too (e.g ibanez prestige or revstar professional) and usually you just get a gig bag from indonesian (even Strandberg's £2k stuff). The body looks thick to me and I presume it's heavy as a result? Maybe I missed if you mentioned the weight. The finish looks good, I bet it looks really good in the flesh, but, as you say, so many shiny guitars with seymour duncan, locking tuners, roasted maple, shiny paint job from Indonesia, including Cort themselves, Ibanez premium et al. I guess if this is as good there's no reason for it not to exist. I think I'd be looking for something with a thinner body for my taste, like the Ibanez S. Or maybe just a revstar standard, I guess the thing with the revstar is you don't get a trem but they're only a bit over half the price of this albeit sans the hard case. If you can find a revstar professional for £1300-1400 (I've seen a few) might hold its value with the made in japan and brand. Larry Carlton seems to like them a lot - I know he probably makes money from them but I believe he genuinely likes them in the same way I believe Vai does his Jems or Guthrie and his USA Charvel rather than just being an endorsement.

This comment is actually not about the Sire guitars,- or any other brand for that matter ( have three Strats and a Tele,- something tells me I don´t also NEED a Silver Sky, a Sire, a Harley Benton etc.) :) Just watched your video on Marshall amps and would like to chime in about those,- having read it you are free to delete this comment since it´s off topic if you so choose, but here goes: Your question at the end of the video asked if we-the audience-have any suggestion for a good Marshall amp to look into: JTM 45 head/ Bluesbreaker combo- vintage early to mid sixties - Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page..., 1959 SLP Plexi - monster rocker from Hendrix era over AC/DC, SRV, Eric Johnson and Ritchie Blackmore to Yngwie Malmsteen, JCM 800 - anything rock/hard rock/classic metal from late 70s to late 80s - think Randy Rhoads, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, early Metallica, DSL 900/ TSL - late 80s US Hair Metal ( Motley Crüe etc.), Mode Four - 90s New Metal/Industrial down tuned - MONSTER amp at 400w, 2266/2466 50/100 W Vintage Modern - single channel modern version of original 70s/80s Plexi/JCM800s - fantastic amp for bluesrock/hard rock/classic rock and classic metal- from Warren Haynes and Gary Moore over Angus Young and Thin Lizzy to Whitesnake and Skid Row, and of course the early nineties 30th. anniversary 100W LM6100 thre channel six mode midi-controllable flagship of the 90s ( of which I happen tp own one,- lucky me...) finished off with the Silver Jubilee and JVM with whom you are already familiar. Look into the rack units preamp/power amp combo JMP-1, JFX-1 and EL34-50/50 - 100/100 Dual Mono power amp too. All of these are fantastic amps,- check out the amps and the bands here on YT,- choose the one that speaks to you. Speakers: Celestion Blue, Greenback, G30H, V30, G12T-75, Seventy-Eighty, Creamback 65W, G15-100w Fullback. All of these amps can be paired with original biased valve/ SST overdrives to tighten them up. Rejoice. Beautiful intro song btw,- Guthrie Govan /Alex Hutchins/ Tom Quayle vibes on a sunny day... nice.

If it does have stainless steel frets, some heavy eq ing might be needed to compensate for the harsher edged tone they create. However long they last, you can't avoid that harsh cutting sound they make, unless the pickups are carefully adjusted to fix this... and they also go through strings more quickly, which is an extra expense in the first five years. I'm suprised no one else much seems to hear this on these stainless steel frets, so maybe I'm too tone obsesive.
