Aron Mellergard and Henrik Linder - one of the best modern rhythm sections. Always a joy to hear them.

Ok, I´m a sucker for them BIG time too (who isn´t) 1. they shot these vids on 2 seperate continents (Sweden and America) and stitched it together 2. Quincy Jones is the producer -> MJ history bro 3. the brass section: they call themselfes "Hornheads" and they toured extensively with PRINCE from the early 90s onwards and are with Cory often times now! 4. Cory Henry is a bandleader himself 5. this lick from Henrik 5:36 pays respect to Marcus Miller and HIS signature lick ...there is maybe so much more even I can´t spot, so yes these guyss are the definition of (contemporary) advanced Pop at it´s finest! Great reaction, good comments, great production values. Really positive, fun to watch reaction. FYI: This is the first track released from a Cory Wong/Dirty Loops collaboration album called "Turbo." Definitely on my to buy list and this song is just off the charts. Don't know but I'm thinking the MJ vocals were sampled?

I'm commenting as I'm watching, so this might get long. First off, I'm here for your laid back energy. You're real chill and I dig it. I HOLLERED when you said "finger stuff" describing the bass player's triplets. Perhaps it's the goofball in me, but that was mad funny. Every time you said "bruh", I laughed a little harder. That "bruh, WHAT?" took me out lol! But yeah, speaking of 'Thriller', they did a cover that you might wanna check out. Also, being a gospel drummer, you'd definitely appreciate 'Next to You'. I definitely wanna see your reaction to that.

"Love the chemistry between the guitar and the bass." LOL These were two performances done on two continents, Cory in Minneopolis (?) Minnesota (?) and DL in Sweden, and stitched together by Aron. Amazing!

Such a great reaction, bro, and yeah, Henrik’s shoes, we all want them 🤣🔥 The dude has style 😉 But seriously, this track is so dope… Would love for you to listen to and react to their version of MJ’s “Thriller”. Also great and with a real gospel feel: “Next to You”. And “Work Shit Out” features a fire drum solo by Aron 🔥🔥🔥 Enjoy 👍

2:59 You’re right about the bass player being influenced by Victor Wooten. I saw an interview where he listed Flea, Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, and Marcus Miller as influences.

I'd say the bass player is more like Marcus Miller to me. Wooten is a little thinner in the bottom end and slightly more active. But, yeah, these kids are smooth. Great vid!

Exactly. What he does at 5:40 is pretty similar to what Marcus does in his solo on Panther off the Marcus Miller Live album. Listen to it here, and check out what Marcus does at around 5:07. kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4Ku4Gaom3V0nKw&ab_channel=JazzCentral

Henrik's bass-playing here is more a mix of Marcus Miller; Billy Sheehan and Johann Asmundsson from Mezzoforte. Listen to "Run for cover" from the album "Straight to the heart" And also "Playing for time" with Mezzoforte. Especially "Praying for time" and "Prime time." Of course, Victor Wooten is a major influence to him, but not in this composition according to me. Nice reaction. Cheers!

I’m actually hear Victor Wootens influence in the slap technique that Henrik is doing in the chorus. That triplets/ghost notes has wooten’s double slapping technique all over the place.

@@milesdust3465 exactly. It's not a competition, but Marcus was doing that triplet before Victor. But your are correct, the way Henrik is sitting in the pocket is more toward Marcus style than Wooten's. The line interacts with the drums and helps support the band and develops the foundation of the groove.

@@lee399 And the ghost-triplets are not with the thumb. Index- and long-finger. And once again: of course he is influenced/playing/copying/sounds like etc. That is the work of art. But it is one thing to do it. Another thing to understand it. And Henrik does for sure. Like Jonah and Aron.
