This game totally nails the day/night cycle. There is something magical in leaving after Kim has gone to sleep, wandering the streets, talking to some random people about history or morality.

@enniusdrusus867

@@Teeheehee093 the pale is essentially the Big Rip. One of the more possible ways for the universe to go. Imagine that, something that may happen in the future irl too. Makes you think about the nature of our universe itself. Who's to say that the big rip isn't happening yet? It may be happening already, maybe our universe is an Isola on itself. Maybe what lies beyond the oort cloud is something akin to the pale. Pierced only by electromagnetic radiation(light is EM radiation) . Maybe the things we observe outside our solar system might be completely untouchable. With lights that are completely untouchable, but very observable and informative. What if when we try to leave tho solar system, we found out that the whole system is an Isola maintained only by the electromagnetic radiation the sun sacrifices itself to keep the pale at bay?

It's pain. The creators felt this pain firsthand and express it through the game. Check out their story when you can, one of the creators was a really bad alcoholic and suffered with depression, which is why Harry's turmoil is so on point. I never seen such pain made so beautiful, it truly is art.

I really miss this game. I enjoyed it a lot but the void it left wasn’t something I was really ready for. It’s a real work of art, and that’s beautiful, but that makes the end all that much harder to deal with. All that said, I think I found Disco Elysium right when I really needed to, so despite this sadness, here’s to more people finding themselves in Harry’s shoes. Here’s to more days with Kim, more crime investigations, and more questions. Cheers guys, we’re all trying our best, and we should love ourselves for that

It wasn't the first time I'd heard the song, but I remember when it stuck with me. Kim was gone for the day, taking the body downtown. Things were starting to come together, and for the first time since I woke up, I felt like something other than a fuckup trying to destroy himself. I didn't even have a name, but I had a handle on the truth. It was more than I'd started the day with. I felt something else when I walked back in, heard that piano. I'd been left with Hardie and his sneering chorus, Garte and that dead-eyed stare, Klaasje's pitiless door. I don't know what I would've said if she answered, but I know why I knocked. I know why I opened that bottle of Commodore Red back in my room, and I know why that first drink went down so easy. Some part of me pleaded not to, the part still getting me out of bed to face all this. Yeah, yeah, I know. For the city. But I just needed to feel good for half an hour. At least the bottle gives you that much before it leaves you, too.

It's almost midnight for me. I'm just standing in the courtyard of the place I'm staying. It's quiet, and people are walking to their places and falling asleep. The disco just passed, and I'm the only one awake. I'm leaving tomorrow and I'm going to miss this place. I'm standing, listening to this as small raindrops fall on my face. I'll soon fall asleep too. I'll wake up, and realise how much I really am going to miss this place. Life's hard but we go on, i guess. Enjoy your time.

The Whirling-in-Rags at night on Day 4 conjures up the same vibes as the Hemingway story "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" to me. At the end Garte just runs a nice establishment, and this piece conjures up memory of concerts and balls that might have been held there in the past, but it's mostly just a place where people with lots of worries and burdens (so everyone in Revachol) can come have a drink, relax, and forget about everything until the morning. Low key one of the most moving moments in the game.

Spent the first few hours of the new year on a freezing patio talking to a friend of a friend that caught my eye. I'm not in a place where I can really be dating anyone, my life is sort of fucked up and unfucking it is an ongoing process. And it was sort of liberating to embrace that fact and not try to make it romantic or sexual. We talked about our anxieties and our hopes for the new year. Just the last two people at the end of a party after everyone else has gone to bed or left, who don't want the night to end but don't quite know what they want from the future.
