Keep in mind, each movie bomb does not just lose a huge sum of money for Disney. As Disney has been a past master of capitalizing on hits, as a failure, Disney loses the revenue from successful merchandising as well as reduced interest in park attendance. As Disney must pay for merchandising and having parks in advance, movie failures are all tripled. An occasional flop is expected, but this relentless drumbeat of failure is catastrophic. This doesn't even include the massive damage to the IP each huge failure inflicts.

Regardless of wether this is hyperbole, it would be fascinating to try to pinpoint exactly when things went to shit. For me it was the moment I walked out of the cinema after The Force Awakens. Loved the song. Hollywood has always had an issue with conflict between creatives and corporate. Problem is now creatives they hire for 'cheap' have no talent and corporate has no one willing to take a risk, spend or recognize talent. Disney and most other studios with these popular IPs, don't under stand that to get the new audience you keep the old and the old passes it on. No amount of marketing can beat word of mouth. Disney also allowed for the complete mis-management of Marvel and Lucasfilm. Those studios were bought to get that audience demographic they had missed for years... males 12-40. They had no idea how to market it. They catered to an audience that didn't support them financially. And the answer is to still just through out more low quality content to hope it will catch eyes and be consumed. I hate to say let it burn, but that is the path they want to take.

I always thought how Endgame is to MCU what T2:Judgement Day was to the Terminator franchise. Both had a clear, definitive, impactful ending. I liked Rise of the Machines and I didn't hate Salvation, but they were unnecessary, and they made the series watered down. Then there were Genesis and Dark Fate, what to say about them... Well, basically MCU is in now in DF territory, but difference being that Terminator series needed quarter of a century to devolve from T2 to DF, while MCU took only four years to become what it is. What always scared me, because I like some of these movies, was the thought that when MCU starts failing one day, that they would pay absurd amounts of money to RDJ and Chris Evans to bring them back, and make a joke out of Endgame's ending. That fear I've felt for the first time shortly after Endgame came out, I had no idea about Multiverse thing back then. Now they have a perfect excuse to pay 130 million a movie to RDJ just to have a glorified cameo, and do Rise of Skywalker type of damage to MCU

Given the success of spider-man across the spider-verse where once again the white Spider-man is treated badly by the women, in one scene told to shut-up by pregnant spider-woman (race-swapped of course) when trying to make a valid point. He also is wearing a pink bath robe.
