It would be a really easy challenge depending on when and where it would happen. The goal of this video is not to make a comprehensive BOB but to make a starter bag with items that could be added to and upgraded as you go along. Simple things like adding a tin of shoeshine which would act as a firestarter with cotton balls a charing tin and a heat source when using an open flame to ignite it. But at the same time, you are going to need the skill to utilize it and to have enough imagination to envision alternative uses for your gear. This bag was designed to be the most bare-bones and entry-level kit just to get people started. I would guess most of the subscribers here EDC knives 2x the budget for the bag. ( I know because I EDC a Leatherman Wave)

Love this idea. I would suggest replacing the jelly with local raw honey (higher calories, longer shelf life, antihistamines, and antibiotic prosperities). Adding Spam Singles and/or single servings Tuna and Ramon noodles. Adding a cat hole” kit ( TP, wipes, and spade), and a cheep multi tool. Chap stick, bug wipes, and sun screen wipes ( light and multi functional). A tee shirt, socks, underwear, gloves, disposable Poncho, and shower curtain liner (tarp) would be my next level add on’s.

I have some Tea Lights (small candles in aluminium foil cases) in my fire kit. I use electrical tape and seal them together to keep the wicks dry. I'd add a marker pen / Sharpie to the kit, leaving messages, especially in an urban environment can save lives (say there's an earthquake, gas mains could get broken, a simple message to not enter a building for that reason is going to keep people safe). I have a bit of a flashlight habit, and own some fairly expensive hand torches and head lights, but I also have cheap ones from the pound shop (UK : -) ) in my bug out bag, and these are to give to people. Say I come across someone who is injured, and need to get help,... it'll make the job of finding them again easier if they have a torch and are lit up.

The concept here is wonderful but even if you only have $50, you could do a lot better than this. Why in the world would you select tortillas for a big out bag? The content creator is right, they’re great for camping trips. I’ve eaten a lot of them when I go backpacking but they’re not shelf stable and if you’re creating a bug out bag, it needs to be able to just sit there without having to update it every single week. Additionally, you need a way to purify more water. A small bottle of bleach would work it you are on a budget.
@beachbumblog

Very cool, but lost me at the food. Awesome camping food and great if you need some food to take but probably not the best for a bag 😂 The PB isnt horrible but I'd rather have some granola bars or oatmeal. Trail mix maybe for being good for a solid year or so.

interesting thoughts..... one thing from my own experience is simply that those tortillas will leak out more jelly than you get to eat...... peanut butter is great stuff but the jelly is not all that usable for a sandwich with tortillas as the bread. Honey might be a good substitute and is useful for first aid as well as food.

I would add wet wipes, goggles, and a hat. By the way, your squeeze jam needs to be refrigerated once opened. I would suggest these single serve restaurant jelly packs that don't need refrigeration: www.amazon.com/dp/B00BFCZW6O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share They're restaurant packs. Grab some extras next time you eat out! Oh and don't forget a pair of work gloves.

I'll say this, anything is better than nothing. If everyone just invested in at least one of those $50 Walmart Survival bags you'd be surprised at how much it would help because you never really know what can happen. It would also probably make more people who are serious about their BOB's help in case you are lacking or needing something. It's difficult when it's only like 10 people decently prepared and then hundreds of people don't have.

I have two of those water bladders with carry pouches and they hold extra stuff. I’m sure you can fill one with snake juice and the other with plain water. Or just keep a small vial of electrolyte powder because you want to stay energized for a long hike or heavy work. They can fit on your body and they can fit inside a big out bag. It’s good to keep them filled with even plain tap water for a quick on the go. I have a life straw too. I’m building a bug out bag and emergency bag for my car

Ok, you may argue that after drinking 1 water bottle taking the knife and cutting the empty plastic water bottle into a plastic cup and a plastic spoon is an option, but already useable cup and spoon is much easier especially in a emergence situation where your fine motor skills might be not as good as usual.

Awesome video man! I love trying to find useful items in the dollar store. I even challenged myself to make a survival kit from an Arts and Crafts store. I was surprised by how much stuff they actually had to repurpose for survival. Still it sure is valuable to test the gear. I bought a kitchen lightee from Hobby Lobby during that challenge and the sparking implement stopped working after a while from use. That would have sucked in a survival situation to find out that it doesn't work anymore.

One obvious thing you missed. The cheap folding foam sit pad's they sell. Cheap or package day sacks have little to no back padding. Which makes for a miserable carry. Placing the pad in the back of the bag makes a huge difference. It also gives you something to sit on.
