Back in the 80"s when I coached men's gymnastics we called these "illusion" machines. My gymnast liked to challenge me to games of "add on" at the end of practice. We would do series of strength moves that were normally impossible until someone failed. Now the gymnast do those amazing combinations for real! I'm thinking about building one to supplement my normal workouts.

I love how these machines spot you. They sell some that already come equipped with everything. I had all the parts to McGyver this one.

I would use the largest size eye lag screws that are available at least 3"/4" and use (2) qty for each pulley...if one of those tiny 3/8 " fails because it got loosened It could cause serious injury or death.

For better hips support, use a climbing harness like the ones here amzn.to/2XKLi7B That’ll be more secure

It's an easy build. Hardest part is drilling the holes on the ceiling. Other than that everything just clips on via carabiners.

The only thing i would change is instead of a rope i would use an elastic band

It better be thick because you'll be holding half your body weight in the air
