It took roughly 4 tonnes of ballast and around 20 bags of cement I would say as we don’t have the ready mix concrete i the UK. I think in total with timber and re bar included it came to £450 Hope that gives you an idea. 👊🏻

Trying to build somethign similar in my side-yard, what transition size did you use and how high is the deck for the qp?

Hi mate. Highly recommend it! Had so much fun and use out of it since it’s been in. Both my sons skate it regularly as well now so that’s an added bonus. the transition is only 375mm tall and 850 deep. I basically just adjusted the string/pencil technique until my two points met if that makes sense? (Ie coping/lip-bottom of ramp.) Hope this helps. Please feel free to hit me with any other questions

Hey man. I own a mixer and knocked it up that way. I used ballast and cement rather than the ready mix bags. 12 shovels of ballast to half a bag of cement mix. I think each bay roughly took a tonne and a half of ballast and roughly 10 bags of cement. Hope that helps.

Looks great brother! Take it from a concrete guy and mist it with water before you trowel, it'll bring up the cream easier.

Appreciate that bro.! Yeah I know now I should have got the spray on it... I’m a plasterer by trade and I think with some of the newer trowels you get used to not having to flick water on the walls for the last trowel up so I think I was a little nervous with the Crete.. next time though..Thanks for the feedback.. always learning! ✌🏻👊🏻

Thats kind of an old school practice. Sometimes you can get away with it but in my opinion its not worth it. Alot of times it will cause dusting, crazing or premature wear and spalling since you are effectively skyrocketing the water cement ratio right at the surface. Same reason you never want to finish over bleed water. Nowadays there are so many troweling aids like Day1 that will bring up cream and actually strengthen the top surface of the concrete as it cures.

@@T-Cuts-Mined thanks a lot :-) im literally just doing some test holes now as i want to sink my down into the ground to hopefully avoid any planning permission issues!!! aiming for a 2ft high mini maybe about 16ft long ish... i can cut the transitions no probs but never used concrete so thats the scary bit - what type did you use and do you just keep floating it once its gone a bit tougher? also need to find something like that rebar in b and q! cheers :-)

@@markgundersen9408 planning permission....what’s that hahaha.. It’s mainly just a waiting game with the concrete. Once it’s in there at the height you want just gently start working it flat. Key is just not to play with it too much as all the water will come to the surface. You’ll start to see it firm slowly. Best of luck with it.. Get yourself a marshalltown concrete trowel.. about £30. Big up T

@@debnlinda I kind of freestyles the radius/transition. I think I went roughly 38cm high and 90cm out on the flat then formed a curve to join to the too marks up if that makes sense..

@@sawyerwhite6202 thanks for scrolling. Was just about to answer. Yeah each bay took roughly 1.5 tonnes of ballast and 7bags of cement I would say. That’s at roughly 150mm thick with those quantities. Get building!! 😃

Poured in three sections. I would say once the concrete is all good in you are looking at a couple of hours drying time for troweling up. Hope this helps. ✌🏻

I wanted something chilled just to mess about on. I kind of prefer the concrete lip on it rather than coping.. and also tried to keep noise to a minimum when I skate so less things to clunk

That’s per bay as I did it in 3 sections. Roughly a tonne of hardcore/type 1 mot sub base per bay as well. I went a bit over kill as I wanted it to last. Mesh is very important..

This is awesome but not at all how you edge concrete or use that trial😂😂 i been finishing concrete for 5 years now that just hurt to watch . Cool lil ramp though.
