I have to thank you for restoring sanity to my lap steel quest. Two Christmases ago my wife bought me a 1960s lap steel that had been gathering dust in the back room of a local music store. I played guitar, five-string banjo, and mandolin and sang in bands, solo, duos for twenty years before becoming a respectable English professor, so I understand music and strings, but the morass of lap steel tunings had me in despair. Then you came along and showed me that I can play in G tuning. It's made all the difference in my playing. Now if I can only master that damn slide. Please make more lap steel instructional videos. And, of course I can't close without saying how much I love Larkin Poe. My youngest daughter used to come up on stage and sing harmony with me when I was doing festivals. Now I send her Larkin Poe videos.❤

I've been self teaching myself slide on a couple lapsteels that I built over the last couple years, so a series on "DIY SLIDE" is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for! If you tune up your B strings to C you will get C major. Weissenborn players can't tune up to your tuning with their standard strings it will break the thing. I found this video to be very interesting, because I like to learn how musicians play their instruments and what it takes. Thanks for clearing up what era your Rickenbacher is from. I thought that I heard you say in an interview that it is from the late '40's. I'm certain that you will inspire many people to take up the lap steel guitar, just like some of the great guitarists have inspired so many to play guitar. I'm curious about how you play Come On In My Kitchen, so hopefully others who actually play would be interested in that one as well.
