Finding movement you like and are motivated by is important. And it will look very different for everyone. There are folks who prefer weight training, cardio, martial arts, yoga, Pilates, etc. Regardless of what you choose to do for you activity, moving a few times per week, especially for artists, djs and even club go-ers is crucial for a number of reasons:
1. Your energy, cognitive function and mental alertness can increase. Exercise increases blood flow, oxygenation, and the release of endorphins, leading to improved alertness and mental focus.
2. Exercise can enhance sleep quality. Physical activity promotes the secretion of hormones like melatonin, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle, helping individuals fall asleep faster and achieve deeper, more restful sleep. Just don't try to exercise too close to your sleep time as adrenaline production can actually interfere with the production of melatonin.
3. It's good for bone health and the prevention of osteoporosis. The more lean tissue you can build, the better protection you have for your bone and your joints.
4. Manages stress and improves mental health. Regular exercise is known to reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression. It stimulates the release of endorphins, which act as natural mood boosters and promote a sense of well-being.
